Couldn't agree more with Freakywwe, that's what I've been saying for months.

The hours I’ve spent in EA’s game compared to 2K speak volumes on which is the better game for me.
The issues some have with swing speed & fps in EA’s game I have in 2K’s game as it’s nothing like a real golf swing. Just like butter smooth fps in shooter’s doesn’t replicate real life abilities in any way shape or form the same goes for 2K’s swing.
It’s not proportional to any real world golf swing at 60fps on performance mode & plays like stuttering mess on quality so it’s in need of some big changes for me to enjoy it. I’m glad there is two games but I was only playing 2K rarely before the Masters & now it’s hardly worth me booting the game as it feels so off.

2K is a sim, through and through. Turn the difficulty up to master and you could easily shoot 100+ on any given day. It's trying to emulate REAL golf. Wanna fly through a round and not pay attention to what you're doing? Don't be surprised when you shank a tee shot 50 yards and don't even make the women's tees. This translates far better in PvP situations, as it comes down to strickly stick skills, and the difference between a "2K" scratch golfer and a "2K" High handicap is night and day.

EA, on the other hand, is emulating PROFESSIONAL golf. It's designed to be an easier pick up and play, because that's the core audience EA caters to. There's a reason the game caps you at Triple bogey... How many professional golfers on any given week do you see shooting over a triple bogey? Yes, it happens, but not to the same extant you see on a municipal course and certainly not on every hole. This game is certainly a bigger learning curve then, say, TW14, but it's still "Casual" golf in the sense that EA never made this game with the intention of people shooting high scores. The game was designed to make you feel like a PGA Tour professional, which in my opinion it does just fine.

Now, as far as the modes each game offers, that comes down to personal preference. Personally, EA has been my go-to game for career mode (Career mode on 2K is a joke, IMO. I can get the same level of excitement playing single rounds at courses I want to play) while 2K is still the best for online play. The level of control 2K gives you over your shot and the execution having to be so precise makes for a far more compelling online gameplay. In EA, you'll find that most people put their shots all within 20 feet of eachother. Again, great for emulating professional golfers and their ability to dart any shot, but not so compelling for an online match. The lack of turn order doesn't help, as it just feels like a single player round with balls flying in from every angle
Really good points all around, it might explain why I like EA's product more since I'm a career mode guy. The one thing I'll disagree with is that on EA, everyone putting their shots around 10-20 yards of each other (even on higher difficulties) on things like drives is not really that accurate compared to real life professional golf. The best golfers in the world are amazing, but even they can only manage to hit ~70% of both fairways and greens in regulation on the PGA Tour. The base swing in EA's game, not counting for house rules like shaping all shots, makes it so I can hit like 90% of fairways and 80% of greens, which EA knew because they jacked up the FIR and GIR stats of AI golfers in career mode to account for this. That doesn't properly emulate the difficulty of drives and approach shots, and I think to better emulate it EA would have to add tougher difficulty options in like forced shot shaping and higher lie and stance penalties. Maybe even allow us to customize the severity of off-plane swing penalties.

I agree with the content of this post. Personally, I like the 2K game more than the one from EA. This is because I find it more satisfying when I successfully hit a good shot. I'm into golf myself, so I understand how difficult that can be. EA did a great job with the way the game looks and feels, but it's a bit too focused on unrealistic and arcade-style game play for my taste. Still, I appreciate that they managed to create a good game after taking a few years off from development. Overall, I believe that both game studios have things they can learn from each other.
