Just read that it's now 50 VC to enter Ranked Tour events...up from 25.

Strangely, it seems to be 50 VC for daily events and 25 VC for weekly events, at least on my end. So you get a net +4 VC for doing a daily event. Not sure why that needed to be changed...

I was watching Respawn's stream and realizing just how much VC you could earn from quests before (mainly MyCareer) that was completely taken out in one fell swoop today. This update is so so so bad, it almost feels like a crypto rug pull for standard edition players with early access players getting the bag.

Respawn said he is making a video on this tomorrow (he's been pretty negative in his stream, justifiably) and I doubt he'll be the only one. My guess is the nerf gets at least partially walked back sometime this weekend or early next week (not soon enough to affect an entire launch weekend), but this is a pretty terrible look for a game that had been doing so well prior to now.

In PGA 2k23 they nerfed the crap out of fittings but after much grief they restored to original.

Yeah, they're losing the NextMakers. Respawn is pretty much taking them to task on Twitter, and Seamount is RT'ing him.

Respawn pointed out that, by playing a Daily Ranked Tour event with a consumable golf ball, you'd effectively be losing VC to do so.

I don’t have an issue with them changing the VC rewarded because it was way too high. That being said, that should’ve been thought about initially because it was obvious they were giving out too much and you could easily rank up your player. Now those with early access got an even bigger boost than those that are just starting. My character is an 81 now (I believe was 83 before the change went in), but it’s frustrating they didn’t think about this previously.

First MyCareer event post-patch, and maybe leaderboards have been tweaked?

The top 10 was all within 10 shots of each other. Winner was at -9, 2nd place at -7, 3rd at -6, 4th at -5, and three players tied in 5th at -1, and three players tied in 8th at E.

It also looks like the shot types have been tweaked. Spinner and Pick have a more diagonal slope now, you can no longer bring the diagonal swing much closer to center (and if you do the forgiveness zones change size a lot), Thai Spinner is no longer possible on greens. Probably more changes that I didn't notice, but the balancing changes look great. Just need to fix the greedy VC nonsense.

Edit: Thai Spinner looks to be mostly unchanged outside of not using it on the green. Short game forgiveness zones get much much smaller if you add spin or shaping to them. Spinner can only be brought back to 25 yds of distance so it's not applicable at all from just off the green, it also rolls out more.

Was just about to pop in with this...haha. Saw a comment from a TGCTours Platinum player on Discord who basically said the gameplay has changed significantly and it's a "completely new game now"...

The really changed how the spinner works now, too. I can only bring the aim marker when using the spinner back in to 27 yards away when using a 60 degree wedge, so any spinner from within that distance has to be very underswung and basically a super partial shot.

I simmed a season, the results seem somewhat better? But I'm still seeing the odd tournament with a 10-15 shot victory and/or 15-20 shots between 1st and 5th. Maybe like 1 in 3 tournaments have a result like that, mostly the unlicensed tournaments. So I think it still has a ways to go, if they did actually change it just now.

I know it’s tied to the shaping attribute, but it’s definitely a totally different game now and you’ll need to really tweak that attribute a lot if you want to be able to hit any fade/draw now.

Before the patch it was much more forgiving. I just tried now and it’s defaulted in the yellow because my shaping stats are still on the 60s. If I move slightly left or right, the penalty for a fade/draw is significant. I’m on the hardest swing level so that adds to it, but still it’s a bit too ridiculous. Again I’ll check it again once my attributes are higher. I should probably test out with one of the pros first to check.

EDIT: I just checked with TW and it’s definitely better since he has a much higher shot shaping attribute. It’s still more penalizing than before, but you shouldn’t be able to play huge fades/draws without more difficulty anyway. Time to grind away at that attribute!

I went into Training with my Greenskeeper player with 59 shaping, for tee shots and approaches adding shaping didn’t decrease the forgiveness zones a significant amount but they did shrink a little. The color of the arrows on the ball changed but I think that’s spin-related not difficulty-related. However, if I went full down or up on both loft and attack angle it does shrink the forgiveness zones a lot. So they haven’t hugely nerfed draw and fade for tee shots or approaches (but doing full loft full spin is nerfed), but they have for short game shots. Which makes sense cause I don’t ever see draw or fade or heavy backspin put on chips and pitches to my knowledge.

Which difficulty are you playing on? I’m using the EvoSwing on whatever the hardest one is and it’s definitely a much smaller swing area. The spin part as the arrows makes sense but I’m talking about the actual meter itself is significantly smaller.
