    - Rate of play was up to 5x faster than intended, especially because of Perfect Swing

Just sharing some detail here, not at all excusing it.
So basically, instead of making it 5x harder to progress to account for that, they made it ~20-30x harder to earn VC (estimated 90-95% of VC removed from quests and 1.67x slower VC accrual per hole) and made leveling up our characters cost 1.4x more. Making rate of play ~30-40x slower than before (and that might be a conservative estimate), and now ~6-8x slower than intended. Great work.

I'm just blown away...in some of their reasoning, they said they "couldn’t fully predict" how things like attributes, club progression, and quests would all overlap...sure, these are new systems in place but, I mean, it wasn't hard to see in the first few days of Early Access that VC was being paid out too quickly.

It also didn't help that you could get to 70 OVR from the demo!

I know it gets tossed around a lot when it comes to games launching with issues and things, but this appears to me that they didn't test out any of the ways to earn VC at the beginning and just picked arbitrary numbers when it came to deciding how much to give as VC rewards for quests, as well what cost should be associated with things like attribute points and fittings.

Just look here at your math, and at that Reddit post with the data showing the difference in VC earnings now...the numbers could have looked at in no time and a middle ground could have been found.

However, in response to the data on how people were doing in Early Access, the bean counters realized that they'd never make any money selling VC if it was handed out as quickly as it was. To appease them, a decision was made to turn off the faucet on basically all VC earnings.

I know some folks have said they expect them to make adjustments to the way VC is earned to make it better after all this fallout...but I have to say, I am not so sure about that after seeing some of the comments they've made in response to the frustration.

Color me skeptical, but 2K is not new to VC schemes

I'm struggling to believe that the way it was going in Early Access caught them off guard

Happy to be convinced otherwise, but .... I'm skeptical

I say set the vc at 90/round add some amount of vc to career, quests etc, ban the use of perfect swing for accumulating vc, reset everyone back to a 65 ovr and give early access players their stuff and then game on.

It may have been that some the people at HB wanted VC to be more generous due to pay-to-win mechanics (maybe the VC being put in for player upgrading wasn't their decision) and since they know most of the hardcore audience (i.e. TGC Tours) don't care as much about "the grind", plus there being 5 different archetypes to level up, so they used early player feedback and concerns during the demo period to make it so. The VC rewards in the dev diaries seemed fairly restrictive, so maybe that's what it was going to be like at first. Their changes ended up overdoing it more than they should have, but maybe the intention was to overdo it a little at the start? Just my speculation.

Aside from the VC debacle...I still can't believe how bad the screen tearing is on PS5.

Also, for some reason, any user-made courses designed using LiDAR data cannot be played on PS5, either. The game just locks up.

I have put in 30 hours, there's no way I'd be ok going back to 65 ovr.

Have a PS5 and have never experienced screen tearing. I use a wired connection.

Some of the Lidar courses do work, others don't.

This. The game is brutal on "pro" with a 65 overall player. Unfun brutal. The evo swing seems to have been designed with high rated players in mind.

My technician is 89 overall and it's still quite challenging on any sort of harder course, and especially if there's any wind. But at least it isn't a mis-hit festival.

I think the problem is they're treating it like their NBA game but golf gamers and basketball gamers. Expecting golf gamers to dump more money into this thing paying $70-120 is whack-a-doodle magical executive sweet nonsense.

You're very lucky, then...streamers (ApexHound, Gamer Ability, Respawn, etc.) and lots of posters here and elsewhere have also said the tearing is really bad for them.

On a positive note, did get actual confirmation that 2K/HB are looking into the CPU leaderboard gaps on career mode leaderboards.

Interesting...I have tried playing all Metatropic's LiDAR courses (Tobacco Road, Valhalla, etc.), as well as a few others, and none worked on PS5. There are multiple support requests at the 2K discord also saying PS5 users cannot play any LiDAR courses.
