I'm just blown away...in some of their reasoning, they said they "couldn’t fully predict" how things like attributes, club progression, and quests would all overlap...sure, these are new systems in place but, I mean, it wasn't hard to see in the first few days of Early Access that VC was being paid out too quickly.

It also didn't help that you could get to 70 OVR from the demo!

I know it gets tossed around a lot when it comes to games launching with issues and things, but this appears to me that they didn't test out any of the ways to earn VC at the beginning and just picked arbitrary numbers when it came to deciding how much to give as VC rewards for quests, as well what cost should be associated with things like attribute points and fittings.

Just look here at your math, and at that Reddit post with the data showing the difference in VC earnings now...the numbers could have looked at in no time and a middle ground could have been found.

However, in response to the data on how people were doing in Early Access, the bean counters realized that they'd never make any money selling VC if it was handed out as quickly as it was. To appease them, a decision was made to turn off the faucet on basically all VC earnings.

I know some folks have said they expect them to make adjustments to the way VC is earned to make it better after all this fallout...but I have to say, I am not so sure about that after seeing some of the comments they've made in response to the frustration.

I don't think you're wrong in your assessment of why the devs made the change but this is a $70 game at a minimum. There simply shouldn't be VC that in any way impacts gameplay at this price point. If they want to sell shirts or some stupid cosmetic stuff like umbrella hats to whales, fine, but they effectively locked the ability to play the game on equal footing online behind either monetization or an insane grind.

Interesting...I have tried playing all Metatropic's LiDAR courses (Tobacco Road, Valhalla, etc.), as well as a few others, and none worked on PS5. There are multiple support requests at the 2K discord also saying PS5 users cannot play any LiDAR courses.

If you do a search for "Lidar", you'll see that two of these (maybe more) Lidar courses have been played a number of times. The others have no plays-- I tried two of these and neither worked. The ones having plays worked.

I took a look at ones with plays, and I'm not 100% sure that they are actually LiDAR courses. Lakes of Taylor MI, for example, has some issues with how the land looks based on what it looks like it reality.

Anyone can put LiDAR in a course name...no matter if it's actually a LiDAR course or not.

I'm up to the RBC Canadian Open. With 20 events played, Xander has 9 wins, 17 top 10s, and a 5,016-point lead in the FedExCup point standings over second-place Rory McIlroy.

Yeah... he's been the big #1 player in 2 of my 3 season sims (up to the final tourney before FedEx Cup Playoffs) where I checked the standings (Rory was the other one). In one of them he only won 3 tournaments but had a 2k lead due to ~23/27 top 10s, the other he had 8 wins, 24/28 top 10s, and a 3.3k lead. I believe Rory had 5 wins the season he was dominant on.

It's really annoying that they won't fix this legacy issue. It looks less bad after Scottie won 7 events and had 16/19 top 10s last year, but seasons like that only happen once every 5 or so years, if that. I also think Scottie was the first to win more than 5 in a season since Tiger. We're basically seeing a Tiger-esque season most years.

If there's one good thing to be said, there has been a good variety of results per season. Even if one player is dominant, they seem to be dominating in different ways.

Ignoring all the price jump issues in the store, I am truly enjoying this game a lot. The new swing system is great along with the shot types that are similar to what EA added, but in a much better system. Haven’t started a career yet as I’m still practicing swing consistency, but definitely having a fun time.

I also like this game, it being much better than 2K3.

There are definitely some problems with Career mode. Still, it's total overhaul.

2k has a great golf game here. They need to fix what's broken. The swing mechanism is near perfect, and I like the fittings and attributes. Unless I play online, I don't plan on having a character above 85.

Really enjoying this game. For me, this may now be #1 on my all time favorite golf games. Career mode still behind Tiger 13 and EA Golf for me but overall, I think this game plays a great game of golf. I'm enjoying ranked matches even with my 71 OVR golfer. I have only played 1 event of Career mode and need to tinker with AI scoring but think I will probably go with 2 round events.

Not many negatives as far as gameplay. The greens maybe were a borderline unplayable on a couple courses I played (think it was Oakmont where pin was back left and landed maybe 7 feet away and it rolled all the way off the front (and the green was large so there wasn't much area where a ball would stop).

I'm hoping they can come up with some sort of handicap system for Ranked Tours. I don't go in expecting to win but you have some of the best players in the world at this game playing Pro Level tournaments and shooting -18 under per round. They need to steal a page from TGC Tours and somehow keep certain players eligible for the enjoyment of everyone (maybe they break up the Tours based on your handicap like local golf clubs do for their championships...you have different flights to compete in (0-5, 5-10, +1-+5, +5 and better for example).

Graphics still to me are lacking. They are acceptable but seem sort of washed out to me (like it is more 1440P).

Overall, I think they have a really good game here. The swing is rewarding when you execute and when you don't you can feel it and know you missed.

I've heard from Respawn that they may plan to experiment a bit with Ranked Tours after launch, which would be nice. It's a really nice base right now, but some things should be looked at. Swap the 50 and 25 VC entry fees between daily and weekly for starters, doesn't make any sense that playing a daily is a net +4 VC and a net loss if using purchased consumable balls. Having tiers would be something I'd get behind, not everyone should be competing together when some shoot +10 and others -18. Also the rank system is really easy right now, I've been doing all Pro and Master tournaments and only getting the 2nd-highest merit rank and I'm already at Albatross III (4th-highest tier) 1 week into playing.

you guys probably already know this but, i just tested metas vahalla (L)on xbox series x. no issues. they'll probably fix it. wonder why that would happen as the systems are pretty much the same.

On a positive note, did get actual confirmation that 2K/HB are looking into the CPU leaderboard gaps on career mode leaderboards.

This is the big issue so far so hopefully they can sort it. Seems the main problem is that at least half the field will shoot awful over par scores no matter what CPU difficulty is set. Makes the cut a formality to make at most events.

Has anyone else had issue with only 1 pin placement being set for all 4 rounds? There are 4 placements available but in career its defaulted to #1 for each day. Cant find a setting to change.
