    Re: FORZA 2 Tuning

Found this link to a IGN guide to Forza, starting to look at it now but figured I'd post it for others too...might help us learn tuning once we know how to keep the right line

      Re: FORZA 2 Tuning

With the midengines I am finally having success and what I do is take a lap and feel what corners in which the car is going to slide out then the next time I approach those I do all my braking in a straight line and then pepper the gas and brake through the corner which seems to lock the car down all the way through the corner.

If the back breaks loose I keep peppering either the gas or brake and also counter steer and then immediately straighten the wheel right before the car catches. This is one you will have to suss out yourself as it's all in car control. If you don't stop countersteering or over correct the opposite way as soon as the wheels bite if you are on the gas it will lurch you in that direction. So basically you are giving in to expecting the bite and lurch but making sure that your vehicle is pointed the correct way when it occurs.

It's sort of like drift racing but you are trying not to drift ever. That made no sense.

my Civic Si is rear wheel drive and without TCS (since i hate driving with assists) has too much torque and i can't give it full throttle until I'm at around 80-90 mph & 3rd gear... Other than that, I love my Civic.... handles great, i just have to get used to not giving the car full throttle until 90 mph... TCrouch you explained a whole lot to me in your post on page 1 and I appreciate that

driving without ABS = EASY.... all u have to do is not slam on the brakes and your wheels won't lock and throw you straight... you'll be able to turn while leaning on the brake pedal with a medium amount of pressure... it's driving without TCS that's a female dog, especially when you're car has a CRAZY amount of torque

Hey, drifting around certain corners has its advantages at times. But it very difficult to do this correctly without slowing the car down too much. The timing of each maneuver has to be spot on or else the drift angle of the car will be off and you'll be forced to slow down a lot more just to regain control of the car before it goes off the track.

The only assist I use is ABS, I like driving without stability control and traction control.

I do the same thing, although I do have the braking line on

I started racing without TCS last night and was wondering if there was any benefit to not using it, besides the 5% credit boost I mean. Does it allow you to accelerate faster if you don't mash on the gas trigger?

The only borderline benefit would be being able to kick out the back end when you DO want to. Sometimes in those faster sweeper corners, or quick sections where you need to get through a section of esses, it's easier to punch the throttle and kick the rear out to alter the direction the car is going.

Overall, though, no. More of a hindrance than a benefit to have it off, but all in the name of realism and all...

Yes it is faster without it. TCS will control traction all the time, it is nice to have it when you are flooring it, but I don't want it during turns, I want the tires to slide and the back end to move out to save time and speed around sharp turns. Most passing is setup by the turns, not just out drag racing down a straight section.

Think about racing an identical car, you can't pass it because you have more speed on the straight sections, you have to pass them by having a better line and being able to turn faster and get back on the gas.

You can still pass an identical car with the better line you mentioned. The more you break traction with the rear wheels, the more time you're losing in most instances. There are definitely benefits to powersliding under certain circumstances, but the vast majority of the time you're better off choosing a better line, exiting cleaner, and not losing momentum (in my opinion, that is).
