What do you mean by that? I don't really know any IndyCar fans besides myself (and I didn't start watching it until the last couple years, so I don't know jack about tradition).

The street courses can be a bit boring, but they add some flavor to the schedule, IMO (kind of like Monaco in F1, albeit with a lot less flavor).

Anyways, the Will Power show did not prevail in the end.

Re: F1/IRL/All Other Forms of motorsports Thread

There is only one IndyCar message board that I've been able to find (I came to it when IndyCar stopped supporting their own boards), and damn near every single person there can't get over the IRL/CART split, believes that the racing is perfect and nothing needs to be changed, and any ideas to make the series more popular are met as if it were cancer. They wonder why the ratings are pure **** when the series moves from one network to another and when races end with five laps to go when a caution comes out (or when Dario blew an engine and they started the race on lap nine at Milwaukee; what the hell is that about?) Hell, the series this year didn't even finalize a schedule for this year until the race in China was outright canceled.

IndyCar right now is a pure mess, and if that board is any indication, it's not going to survive for much longer. That's a shame too because the cars this year are fun to watch and the racing is great. I just think the fanbase is so negative that it turns away potential fans.

As for the second part, street courses are nearly always boring. Monaco is fun to watch because of the prestige, but the race itself is a snoozer. IndyCar needs to move to more ovals and permanent road courses if it wants to survive.

Unbelievable. Power out again in the last race of the season.

To be honest, I completely forgot about the race tonight. After August starts and baseball and football fire up, I lose my interest in racing.

When Hunter-Reay had his disaster at Sonoma, I thought his chances were over with. Now, he is seemingly in the driver's seat (at least he controls his own destiny). This caution flag is going to change things up.

HUGE break for RHR. Really hoping he can pull this off.

I'm half expecting RHR's car to not start up after this red flag.

And that's it. Ryan Hunter-Reay wins the title!

Helio' new tires got him into the wall, LOL.

                    Per; http://www.virtualr.net/fernando-alo...imulator-video

I want this in my house!

A new video has surfaced on Youtube, showing two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso lapping Singapore in the Shell Performance simulator.

The current F1 points leader takes us around a lap of next weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix venue. Even though Alonso did not use this simulator before, he posted a 1:48 minute lap, being just one second slower than last year’s pole time.

Afterwards, the Spaniard commented on the importance of simulators in racing today:
We need to practice in the simulator, not only for driving practice but also for set up and developments on the car. So it’s an important tool these days.

I'm definitely staying up for the Japanese Grand Prix tonight. Comes on at 1:30 AM is nice; certainly much better than races coming out at 7 AM.

Thanks to playing F1 2012, I now understand the qualifying sessions in real life, lol.

( I was totally confused before; didn't understand why some drivers only got one session while others kept going).

Sazuka comes on tonight at 10:30 pm. I'll be watching!

Kobayashi gets his first F1 podium at his home track. Nice battle there at the end between he and Jenson Button.

Can't believe they didn't show that battle from the hairpin through the final chicane. I didn't need to see massa take 2nd.

Yeah, the commentators were clearly frustrated about it.

No doubt. Incredibly stupid move by Japanese TV -- which produced the feed used for the world feed -- to ignore its home driver fighting for his first career podium on the last lap!
