I just started watching F1 this year but I don't think they should be allowed to change tires during a red flag. That race was shaping up to an interesting finish but Vettle on fresh tires was a no contest.

I agree that working on cars during a red flag should not be allowed. Or perhaps you can do it from the pit lane, however, you have to start from the pit when the race starts. This is similar to the scenario if work is being done on the car before the race and you don't make it to the grid on time.

Another gripe of mine is the penalties being handed out when drivers try to overtake. Sometimes they are warranted, other times I think they are killing the competition. For example, Hamilton was alongside Massa in the braking zone before their incident. Massa clearly turned into Hamilton who was holding the inside line. From my experience when two drivers are side by side in a turn you need to respect each others position. Hamilton got penalized. I could see a penalty if Hamilton came in hot and swung it to the outside into Massa but that was not the case. The same exact scenario happened on lap 1 when Schumi passed Hamilton on the inside (same turn as well). Hamilton kept to the outside and everyone kept racing. No problems. It's not rocket science that you cannot hold the ideal line when you are two wide in a turn. F1 is tending to penalize the car attempting the overtake regardless of the situation.

Yeah, the red flag sucked the life out of the race. Which is too bad, because it was about to reach a climax. I'm sure red flag rules will be adjusted after the season. Just my opinion, but I'm pretty sure the tyre rule is this way because most red flags in F1 are from weather, and you obviously want to change to wet weather tyres during the red flag if it starts raining. This is the first red flag from an accident I've seen, and from what other people have told me there hasn't been one since Burti's accident at Spa in 2001. So it's kind of an unprecedented situation, and I'm sure the FIA will address it after the season, probably something like "you can change tyres only to switch from dry to wet tyres or vice versa."

In my opinion, a red flag is effectively a pause button, and no work should be done on a car during a red flag. But I'm not in charge of sanctioning a racing series.

Indycar is going to race on the Motegi road course instead of the oval this year due to earthquake damage. Not sure if teams have ever tested there, so it should be interesting to watch.

YESS, Ben Spies gets his 1st MotoGP win. Poor Marco Simoncelli (The Kyle Bush of MotoGP minus the wins), if he could just learn to be patient he could really do something special in MotoGP.

Yeah, I agree with that. Simoncelli is fast, but he has to learn to dial it down some whenever approaching a rider from behind or racing in a pack. I imagine he'll get better at dealing with this with more experience under his belt. I remember Pedrosa racing the same way throughout his first couple years in MotoGP as well.

I didn't like it when I first saw it, but the new Indycar is even uglier on the track than I thought it'd be.

Way to make your series look like a joke, Indycar.

Marco Simoncelli finally gets his first Moto GP Podium finish. The race was not the most exciting of the year especially after Dani Pedrosa went down(would have liked to see him and Stoner got at it).

Hopefully Marco has learned a valuable lesson about tire care and aggression. Maybe now we can see him on the podium on a consistent basis.

Good race for Marco Simoncelli at Brno. He took advantage of several riders' misfortunes and steered clear from any trouble. Ditto for Andrea Davizioso. This guy has probably been the most consistent MotoGP rider all season long.

Casey Stoner is a machine. It's amazing how fast he has adapted to the Honda RC212V after being on the Ducati for numerous years prior.

It was a shame what happened to Dani Pedrosa in the race. He owned everyone in the Practice, Qualifying and Warm Up sessions. He clearly had the best bike going into this race.

Jorge Lorenzo also had a really good bike going into the race but hurt his chances with a poor front tire choice. His soft compound didn't hold up with the rest of the field using hard compounds.

Like you pointed out, the premier MotoGP race wasn't all that great largely because Pedrosa crashed out and Lorenzo's bad tire choice. However, the Moto2 race was off the hook. The leading group of four riders were passing one another several times during the latter half of the race and end up finishing within one second of each other. Amazing race.

Moto2 has been the better races all season long, there is always 4-5 guys with a chance to win. I have not watched the Moto2 race yet (I have it rec) so I will watch it later today.

With all of the stuff that's happening in IndyCar (especially since they won't move from spec racing for another year), I'm starting to watch F1 more and more. IndyCar can't keep changing the rules at the drop of the hat and expect people to keep watching. At least F1 has some sort of consistency.

Then again, I don't know if there will still really be a Grand Prix of Texas. It seems that just about every other day, a new problem is happening in Austin...
