Better yet, rent a scanner and headphones from one of the trackside vendors. They should be preprogrammed or they may have a driver frequency list for programming it. The headphone muffle the sound and you gdet to listen to the drivers talke to their crew chiefs and spotters. It opens up a whole new level of learning about the strategy and the technical aspects of the sport.

How much are those things, dude? I'm going to Pocono in a few weeks.

I am not sure the cost for rental. I bought mine for the first race I went to. I got a Bearcat Sport Scanner (by Uniden) for $150 and my headphones cost me $75. You can get cheaper models of both at Radio Shack. I got a good set because I knew I would be going to a lot of races.

Not sure how much the scanner itself is to rent, but the head phones are Talladega were $15 with a list of drivers numbers to program into your scanner. I think I remember the scanners being about $50 to rent.

I paid $100 for a 50-channel scanner at Wal-Mart. I've used it at three races, so it's already paid for itself. The headset cost $70.

As far as Bristol goes, my GF was able to buy tickets over the phone for the spring race. We ended up between turns 3 & 4 in row 6! Here comes the good part -- we are now in possession of two FREE garage passes for the Bristol night race in August, thanks to Mike Wallace!
