Np prob Shadows. It really does sharpen everything, and takes that haze look away. They have also released new driving cam views, and have cracked the game. They can change the textures, change the signs at the track....and are working on importing other cars into the game. They are pretty confident that they will be able to mod almost everything about the game.

Which is exactly why I got the PC version. Thanks for the mod.

your F1 2010 main folder under your steam folder. Your F1 folder is in your steam app folder, under common folders. Just extract it there.

            C program files(x86) Steam, Steamapps, Common, F12010

I have wind 7, so it would just be program files if you are using XP

Wow that time trial stuff is pretty addicting, it's so funny at least on the first 4 tracks im within 2-3 seconds of your ghost. I can't believe I'm ranking that high. But maybe I'm cheating though, I have all aids off except the racing line and I'm using an automatic. I can't do the manual yet on this one, it really throws me off. But I love being able to download peoples ghost, downloading yours really helped me improve my times. And also using a Mclaran instead of the Virgin car.

The only major inconvenience for me is the fuel simulation. I really want to play with that on but simply cannot. Otherwise I can easily deal with the work around until the patch comes.

could you elaborate on this one ? I have it set to on and haven´t see any issues, but then again i´m not quite sure what the effect (on versus off) are supposed to be.
My only basis is that i generally do better in races than practice/qualifying.

still having fun with the game to the point that i´ve been even thinking about getting a wheel ... (will likely also get GT5, so it wouldn´t be just for 1 game)
What´s the cheapest option here ? Any wheels out there you can use well without a table or other means of fixed installation ?

Nope, gave it another "go" and I just can't cop it. So disappointed, I expected a great game and I think in part my disappointment extends from my expectations. I will be keeping it though it's done for now until we see a patch that will make it playable (F1 tragic here so the little things that a passing fan can let go, I seemingly can not).

I am going to get back to NCAA 11 whilst waiting for NBA 2k11.
My teams: Leeds United, Central Coast Mariners, Denver Broncos, Florida Gators, Florida Marlins, Miami Heat, Brisbane Broncos.
My screen-name is a combination of my favourite college football player in Tim Tebow and my favourite ever Bronco, Terrell Davis (30).

On another note, I played for about an hour tonight. I haven't played a driving game in a long time and since I wanted a challenge throughout the course of career mode, I'm playing with pretty hard (custom) settings.

I'm involved in first race weekend and throughout 30-40 minutes of practice, I couldn't keep the damn car on the track for a whole entire lap (the second sector of that track is a mother, by the way). I tinkered with a few different car setups but wow... very responsive & temperamental beasts.

Later I played a TT on my home track of Melbourne and wow!!!! They've nailed this circuit. You really get a great essence for speed.

Anyway - early impressions are brilliant, but it's going to take me a long time to be competitive.

From my experience when fuel simulation is on my race pace is much slower in the beginning due to the fuel load. As fuel burns off my car gets faster. This in itself is not an issue, that is how it is supposed to work. The issue I have come across is that fuel load is not simulated in an equitable fashion with the AI. For example, with fuel simulation on I can have good pace with the AI cars during qualifying (qualified 14th in one case) and then during the race the AI is ~3 seconds a lap faster in the beginning of the race. As I race and burn fuel I am lapping a couple of seconds faster than the AI. The AI cars simply do not exhibit the same fuel burn off as I do. In one particular race I went from 14th to 24th in the first two laps because I was so heavy and the AI was running times close to qualifying. I then passed all 23 other cars on the last five laps because my car was so light after burning fuel.

The idea of being slow in the beginning and then just destroying the field late in the race is no fun IMO. I turn fuel simulation off and the pace is what is expected. I believe this is more or less noticeable depending on race distance. Someone at the Codemasters forums claims it works at 100% distance. I race at 40% distance.

Oi! How do I turn off penalties? I really enjoyed the first race other than being penalized 10 seconds for the AI cutting me off on a turn so naturally I ran into them and sent them off track. Some how MY fault. Buuuuuuuuuuuulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllll.

I don't think you can turn them all the way off, but you can set them to reduced. I've found that its pretty lenient and you can get away with quite a bit of bumping before you get penalized.

Reduced penalty setting actually helps out a lot but the penalty system is severely flawed along with some other aspects of the game. Has anyone seen an example of the AI being hit with a penalty? If so does your engineer tell you about it?

On another note it's still great to drive the cars but the overall experience is lacking mostly due to no race sector times by your nearest competitors, the fake AI lap times and the "rubber banding" issue (slower cars like HRT's lapping as fast as a good car if they happen to be further up the grid after leaders pit). Overall Codemasters took some lazy shortcuts with timing and scoring and with the AI times in general. Maybe they figured the F1 community would not sweat it but they were sadly mistaken. A lack of sector times during the race especially at 100% distance takes away so much of the 'fight' from the driver. There is nothing to shoot for because you have no idea how far a guy is behind or ahead and you have no idea if you need to push harder in order to make up time before he pits, or before you pit. Also if your nearest competitor is losing ground you don't know whether to wind down the pace in order to nurse your car home. Basically you are just racing hard and hoping for a good finish. Codemasters promised us that strategy would play a major role in this game but that promise cannot be realized without knowledge of where your opponents are on the circuit! This game is in need of a major patch. I'm gonna hold on to it until the first patch is released and then decide to keep it or sell it.

The cars are a joy to drive, but that is not enough to keep this game because I'm a serious F1 fan I need the serious elements of the sport to shine through and this title has not succeeded in doing that. I've been trying to figure out why I get bored driving during races and it dawned on me that the strategic element of the sport is crippled without sector times info shown on screen, or those times given to you by your engineer.

Not to mention the replay system is just sickening. I'm sorry but we've seen a better replay system on the old 128bit systems. It's absolutely horrible.

I had the AI bump me in a way they should've got one based on the way I did but there was no mention of it. Not sure if they did or not.

Hell, I've had the AI run into me (I broke too hard while learning a track in practice) and got penalized for illegal blocking.
