3 D was okay to me but not as great as what I was expecting. It gives more of a depth to things.

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
I feel like the word gimmick would best describe this technology for now in gaming, its not at the point where I'd say its here to stay. Cool moments but not what I was expecting.
If your card supports 3D, Nvidia has glasses on Ebay for $5 and up
Edit: I may buy the 3D kit from Nvidia thats wired glasses (non red/blue lenses) and see how that is. The kit runs around $60-80 depending on the online shopLast edited by av7; 08-11-2011, 08:36 PM.Aaron

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Well it sounds like from both of your experiences.....3D is not a must have for iRacing, by an stretch. My card does 3-d, but until it makes the experience better, no sense setting anything up.
Thanks to both of you for your responses.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

Yeah it definitely does not make the sim better“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
I didn't realize how cool iRacing was. I love it. I ordered a wheel and it's on his way so I can get even more realizism from it.
I'm already a Class D liscense at a 4.86. Just need a D class car to get the MPR.
Hopefully, I will be able to jump in a hosted session before long.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Just won a Class A Impala race at Michigan.
Got a little lucky near the end thanks to a caution. I sped on pit road during green flag stops, and it dropped me quite a ways behind the leader, but the caution erased the distance and my two tire stop got me the lead. Had a bit of moment with about 6 to go, as I hit the wall which allowed second and third to close up on me. Actually lost the lead a couple times, but managed to get it back thanks to my own screw up. Drove in too deep and drifted up, which caused the other guy to back out. Judging by the divebomb he put on me a little later, he wasn't too happy about it, but hey, if I was that perfect, he wouldn't have been that close to me to begin with.

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
I cannot figure the Ford GT out. Part of it seems to be the tires, as the car feels great for the first half lap or so, then once the heat builds up, the car feels like complete crap. It's too bad, because I really enjoy multi-class racing, and especially the GT series cars, but I absolutely hate driving the Ford.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
After dabbling with iRacing briefly a couple of years ago I re-subscribed about a month ago and I'm totally hooked. I decided to focus on road racing and have been running the Class D Mustang series. I'm relatively slow but clean and have fast tracked to a C license and can fast track to B as soon as I satisfy the Class C MRP. I'm in no hurry to move up to the high racing classes though. I figured I'd try to become fairly proficient with one car before moving to another. After the Mustang season is over I'll decide whether to move up to a Class C series or run the Skippys.
I'm in no danger of winning races but I'm having fun and don't think I'm doing too bad considering I haven't done much sim racing in about 10 years.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
They're pretty equal to me. I just did a Cup race over a NW race because of the tracks. This week I'll probably try a NW or Truck race, as both series are at Atlanta, compared to the Cup car which is at Bristol.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
The skippy im pretty sure has a higher participation rate so you will always have a decent amount of splits to race in. The mustang is used in the grand am series also but does have less participation. The skippy has been remodeled and also has the new tire model on it. it kinda depends on if you prefer open wheel or tin top also? i would personally choose the skippy again as its easier to find races with it.Comment
