I know it's the first day of the new week, but the Darlington servers are a disaster. Yikes.

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Darlington Server Status Day 2: Disaster+ (That's "disaster plus" AKA: It's only gotten worse). Tough to get decent practice when you're dodging cars every 15 seconds.
On a hopefully positive note, I just read the DWC race that was scheduled for next Tuesday is delayed by a week. Seems like they didn't do that last build and some are speculating it means the new surface model will be in the build.
I'm generally in the group that thinks no news is bad news, but hopefully no news is good news and we get the NSM next week.Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Trying to get my SR on road above 3.0 so I can get promoted to C class at season end so that I can run the DW12 Winter Series which is 25 week series kinda like the NiS but using the road license on both road and ovals. Not going great. LOL Keep inching up, up to a D 2.66 now. That's my plan for rest of this week and most of next.
On a side note, anybody here use a G27? Sstarted off with a DFGT and had no issues and have since upgraded to a G27. The problem seems to be that I can lock up the brakes in some cars if I press about 1/4-1/2 way down on the brake pedal. Normal racing conditions on oval in the DW12 or xFinity car I barely push down the brake for it to slow me enough to turn.
Is this normal? Am I just a moron? LOL I know everything is calibrated correctly because in the menus I can see it follow how far I press the brake. I currently have the brake pedal setting at 1.8 (sorry forgot what it's called but says use 0.0 for load cell and 1.6-2.0 for everything else.). I bought the wheels and pedals used off craigslist, so they could be modded but I don't think they are.
Is that normal for G27?Comment

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
Well finally got my SR to 3.42 on road and have met the MPR, I'm done on the road side till S4.
As for the NSM, with iRacing being pretty quiet about it, I'd expect to see it in the new build. Not sure how much it'll matter on the road side but I think it'll make the oval side a whole new ballgame. I'm so over all the short sprint races that you pit under first yellow and your good till the end, if you have to pit at all. Ready for there to be some strategy and having to decide which line to run and all that.

Re: iRacing after 2+ years
I will say I'm not optimistic about release because of how quiet they've been and that Steve Myers is going to do one of his cat herder blogs. I guess even after ~3 years away, I'm still pessimistic when it comes to iRacing releasing things.Comment

Looks like NSM is coming this build.

Getting to do actual applied math again makes me want to apply for any jobs they have open ASAP... the dynamic track modeling falls right into the thesis project I did; just with concrete and rubber instead of bacteria and antimicrobial.Comment

I think I finally got my rift to work where I can use iRacing. Looking forward to trying this out.Comment
