Just noticed that since my race at Darlington where I had no incidents, I've averaged 8.5 per race. That's not exactly ideal.
My NiS races have been complete disasters with regards to incidents since the race before Darlington. It's frustrating.

At least I kept it clean during the A Fixed race last night, but unfortunately after setting a blistering hot lap in qualifying (and I'm not usually a good qualifier), I couldn't really keep up the pace in the race. I still finished 3rd and was probably faster than the leader in the closing laps, but I couldn't get around him since I got a run on him out of T4 and there wasn't anywhere to go since he was taking the apron (not that I wouldn't do the same if I was leading), and then 3rd place got by me in the final couple laps (who was probably the fastest driver in the race). The final caution was actually pretty hilarious, and sad at the same time, as a backmarker spun and somehow took out the leader, who had been dominating the race to that point.

I struggled between trying to keep the car comfortable to drive and speed. I guess I was a little faster running lower, but the car was fairly loose down there, whereas up high I was somewhat slower, but the car felt very good up there.

Guessing this due to the skybox we had in qualifying. I ran a .6 in that qual session despite screwing up out of 4 on my hot lap. I believe the only time I've run faster than a .8 is with the skybox we had in that session.

I haven't been comfortable running near the wall at all, even on worn tires. Think the second lane is where I enjoy running with worn tires. I need to remember not to go all the way to the bottom when trying to pass people, I've found it's really hard to pass when you do that.

Here's my win from yesterday. Thankfully I forgot to record the second race from last night, so nobody else has to see that abomination.

Randomly decided to do a Blancpain Sprint race this morning. I was pretty slow, but as the last car in the top split that's to be expected. Started 20th out of 23 and finished 16th due to others flying off track or crashing. No complaints other than screwing up my pits stop but I didn't lose any positions because of it. Only the second official road race I've done since I've been back, and I didn't complete a single lap in the first one.

So who wants to run Petit Le Mans with me in the Ruf next month?

I would love to try the Blancpain endurance series with the driver swaps. However I'm not the fatest on road and don't have any buddies on iRacing, so never have done it yet. Lol

Well my first race Friday night in the IndyCar Winter Series went pretty good. Started 19th out of 21 in the bottom split. Screwed up on lap 1 and looped it around at the first turn of the boot. In the 100+ laps I've practiced hadn't looped it around there once. Ended up clawing my way back up for a 8th place finish, 2 laps down. Overall had a blast. Not sure I'll get another chance to race this week so already looking forward to next week.

I'd love to drive the Indycar winter series, but I don't enjoy driving the DW-12. Come to think of it, I've never really enjoyed driving open wheel cars in sims, doesn't matter what car it is. Which is a shame, because I'm an open wheel guy at heart.

Well, another fun race in NIS. Currently sitting with 5 minutes of required and 5 minutes of optional after fixing 3 minutes worth after 48 laps.

Guy about 5 spots in front lost it in turn 1 on a restart, and there wasn't much I could do. Going to see if I can pick up a few spots, but the engine is probably going to go boom at some point.

EDIT: Car actually ran pretty well once I fixed the damage. Manged to work my way back up to 16th thanks to others crashing and quitting. Gained 3 iRating and .20 SR after all that. Yay me.

I didn't make it home in time to race NiS, unfortunately. I think I might run the 12:45 EDT A Fixed race.

                  Re: iRacing after 2+ years

The A Fixed race was a lot of fun. The SOF was only 2100, but I had another guy whose iRating is about the same as mine and we had a hell of a battle all race for the lead. After a caution and pit stops 20 to go, I decided to go all-in and not worry about saving tires anymore. The ensuing race for the lead was a lot of fun and the exit of T2 was a lot of fun with the pedal to the metal and countersteering. I got by him when he slid up the track a bit in the middle of T3/4 with around 10 laps to go and was able to hold on for the win, pulling away a bit before the checkered flag.

First race I've won in awhile. I recorded it, so maybe I'll upload the replay since I didn't upload the replay from my 50-lap down finish in NiS on Thursday.

On the last run, I ran right on the bottom of the track along the white line and it was surprisingly fast over the course of 20 laps. I had to use some brake on entry to T1 in order to get the car to stick and then managed the throttle through the middle of T1/2 and then hammered it on exit. It was loose, but manageable and fun.

Fun video to watch, even if it was just you two. Nice win.

I LOL'd when you hit the wall out of 4 and he followed you right in. Great example as to why you should drive your own line and not follow the car in front of you. Of course that's easier said than done when you're so close.

It's definitely seemed faster down by the white line even later in the run, but my problem is I don't have the skill to control such a loose car. Heck, I struggled with the inside line even early in the run when there was a car on my outside. I always tried to get to the outside if I was side-by-side with someone. Much more comfortable out there and I didn't need to worry about them spinning to the inside.

Don't know how many people will remember him, but Kenny Humpe, who ran a few of the OS hosted races and did OSFC way back, won the NASCAR PEAK Antifreeze Series last night.

I've had no time to race this week. Done a little practice, and I actually feel pretty comfortable, but I haven't had a chance to run a race. Went to the Royals game last night, so NiS for me.

Will run NiS Sunday night, just hoping I can get at least one race in before then to get comfortable with traffic.

                            How'd your race go, James?

They sent me a half-off promo code this weekend to renew my membership. I'll see what I want to do. I wasn't planning on picking it back up really until after baseball/NASCAR season, but for a few bucks, won't hurt to get some practice in every once and awhile. Maybe buy the Xfinity car and run Charlotte next month. Get a feel for some more of this dynamic track stuff.

Yeah, I was a subscriber for a long time even though I never really raced. It was just fun to turn laps every once in awhile, even in a test session.
