That is good they are probably going to keep dirt ovals separate from paved ovals. I can't wait to try dirt, and I won't have to worry about trashing my oval iR/SR now.

Picked up a used Logitech MOMO Force Feedback wheel on ebay and man does it make a difference. I ran trucks in Rookie at Daytona with 0 incidents and 10 clean laps finishing 4th!

Such a cool feeling being able to hold a line in a banked turn with someone outside or below you. It's almost like racing

        iRacing after 2+ years

Ok Operation Sports iRacers. I don't know if any of you know my story, but if you don't I'm about to tell you and I'm going somewhere with it. In 1991 I was in a car accident and was severely injured. I had many broken bones, a bruised heart and quite a few cuts. Nothing that time can't heal. Unfortunately this wasn't the extent of my injuries. I also suffered a traumatic brain injury. I had a major blood clot on my brain that was bleeding and the pressure of the blood was crushing my brain. The doctors found the clot but feared it was too late. They met with my parents and told them how bad things looked and that I required emergency brain surgery and even then the chances of me surviving the surgery was slim and if by any chance I did survive I would most likely be a vegetable unable to walk talk or do anything for myself again. So that night the doctors removed my skull and did the surgery, stopping the bleeding and removing the blood from my brain. The Lord was with me that night as I not only survived the surgery but in a weeks time was able to go home. Sadly I had to learn how to do so many things over again and somethings I can't do at all anymore. I am on permanent disability and each day is a struggle to push myself to do things that so many people take for granted. I say this because I love racing and sim racing has often become a sanctuary for me. I might not be as good as some drivers but when you put into perspective what I have gone through the fact that I can simply steer a car to begin with is a miracle and I'm lucky enough to be competitive in one of the highest forms of racing today. I tell this story because the people in the league I race in, iRacing, and race spot tv have got together and will be hosting and broadcasting a charity race on May 3rd at Talladega for myself and the many people in this country that suffer from a TBI. I feel lucky to have the chance to compete in it and having the opportunity to be the voice for so many voiceless. I'm going to give a description of the race and ask that the operation sports community please come out and support me this night. Thank you.

The CFRL, RaceSpot, and iRacing are proud to announce that the Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness 250 at the Talladega Superspeedway will take place on iRacing NASCAR Night, Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 at 9pm ET live on RaceSpot & iRacingLIVE! Join us as a driver or viewer to help raise awareness for Traumatic Brain Injury on the second running of this great event!

For the second time, the CFRL is playing host to the Traumatic Brain Injury 250. An event that raises awareness for one of the leading types of injuries that is Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Every 19 seconds, one person in the United States will suffer from a Traumatic Brain Injury and 90,000 Americans are left with long-term disabilities for life, each year. Last year, the CFRL wanted to have a race dedicated to raising awareness to TBI along with help from a league member who has been living with a traumatic brain injury. The event will feature giveaways on the leagues Twitter page (twitter.com/TheCFRL) and live race info provided on the leagues Social Media accounts. We are happy to announce that RaceSpot and the CFRL have partnered up for this event to be broadcasted in its full duration on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 at 9pm EST on RaceSpot and iRacing.com/LIVE. The event will be a part of iRacing's NASCAR Race Night! Join us and hundreds of others as we race to raise awareness to Traumatic Brain Injury. The race will be at the Talladega Superspeedway for 94 laps of racing and feature the best drivers from the CFRL as they battle towards a championship. There are still some openings if any new drivers would like to jump in and race with us for a great cause, also. If you would like to race, contact Michael Fenlason on iRacing or visit TheCFRL.com. We hope you can join us as a driver or a viewer for what should be a great night of racing around the superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama on May 3rd, 2016!

Happy that's an amazing story and an even better thing about the race. I've marked it in my phone calendar to try to tune in if I can.

Best of luck in the race. what # car/paint scheme will you be running?

Thanks I want to be an example to everyone that no matter how bad things get no matter how hard you have it to never give up keep on pushing forward. I've had 2 failed marriages because of my injuries a child pass away but I haven't given up. Life is too good we only get one shot at it so make the best of it. Not sure what paint scheme I'll run yet but I'm the driver of the 83 car

On April Fools Day we were all shocked at the news of #DIRTCONFIRMED. Was it real? Was iRacing just playing with our emotions? So we waited and speculated and hoped for an answer. Finally three days later we had the answer, dirt was on its way, and the excitement exploded in the sim-racing community. So … Read the Rest »

Finally (almost) conquered an iRacing series race. Managed 2nd in the Talladega race this morning and only lost because second place had a buddy a lap down drag him past me and I just couldn't get the power to slingshot around on the last lap. I'll still take a 2nd. First time I've ever finished lead lap in one of those races and best finish since 10th at Atlanta.

I just hooked up my wheel a few minutes ago for the first time since November (I think), now that I am finished moving. I ran a hot lap of 30.182 seconds at Las Vegas in A Fixed.

                  Here is the replay file:

I haven't driven since they implemented the LDF package, which has definitely shaken things up some.

Really? You take a lap for the first time in over 6 months and easily beat my fastest laps at Vegas.

I think I'll be focusing on Atlanta B this week. I skipped it back in season 1 and I need to finish out the season for the participation credits.

I got down to a 30.03 at one point, but most of my times are in the 30.05-30.10 range for qualifying, it seems. I raced a lot this week since I was off last week before starting my new job tomorrow.

                      ---

Anyways, I was racing a few minutes ago and had a big lead in an A Fixed race and then this happened...

                      <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wnyYj4e5yNk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I saw him, but I was indecisive and wasn't sure how far he was going to slide up the track. In the end, I made my move too late and the crash was basically fatal. The worst thing is that this guy had been wrecking all over the track the entire race and was several laps down. I don't care if you're slow, but if you can't control your car, then don't race...

And then 126 iRating down the crapper.

Spectacular iRating crash physics on display, too, where cars bounce off the inside wall all the way up the track.

                      ---

I am probably done with A Fixed, anyways. I just raced it since I had lots of time this week and there this was an off week for NiS. I'll probably start doing NiS again this week. I like longer races and A Fixed are way too short now.

I need to start road racing again, too...

A fixed lengths are random. Some are 25% of the regular race, and then others wind up at 12.5% like Dover and Pocono soon. I ran the A open because of the length. I don't know what it was, my setup in the weather, my driving, or what, but I was just slow. I messed up qualifying as my practice time was good enough for top 5, but my falloff was just ridiculous compared to everyone else. Managed 10th only because someone pulled a Jimmie on a restart.

Oh, okay, maybe that's what's going on then. Last time I raced they were typically just over a pit stop in length, which was a great length for two-hourly pickup races, IMO. 33 laps is barely half a fuel run, and is way too short, IMO.

I see what you mean about the Charlotte races being longer, so maybe I will do some A Fixed this week, though I am also planning on running the full-length Coca-Cola 600 at some point, so we'll see what I can fit in!

I'm planning on running an open 600, just a matter of it it'll be Thursday afternoon or Sunday morning. Hoping I can find a setup that will at least keep me up there and maybe I won't screw up on pit strategy for once and wind up a couple laps down.
