$99 wheel, Chaos and I have pointed multiple members here to this DFGT set

    http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-PlayS.../dp/B0015HYPOO

Pro: Nice feel, force feedback, tons of options to map buttons, PS3 and PC plug-n-play

Con: Pedals are on the cheesy side. Shifter is sequential, not H-Pattern. Can be loud with the the gearing but its not terrible

Yeah the G27 is pricey but of all the ones I have tried it performs great. It's very quiet, and smooth flowing with good force feedback, lots of buttons for assigning controls H pattern shifter and a good set of pedals with a clutch. But it's user preferance on to what to use.

        Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Do what I did. Buy both the DFGT and the G27. Just buy it from somewhere you can return it to. I bought the DFGT from Best Buy and the G27 from Amazon. Both allow returns.

Actually I bought the DFGT first and was happy with it, then decided to try out the G27 and well it was really hard for me to hook up the DFGT for comparison testing.

Every time I would swap out for comparison, that session would last 10-15 minutes until I would swap back to the g27.

The only reason I would even continue to try was I kinda wanted the DFGT to win because of price and the extra buttons, but in the end I hated using the DFGT after the fact.

Obviosly the pedals are better, but another point that is not evident at first is that the DFGT has sharp edges on the pedals and I like to go barefoot and if you are sloppy you can ding your self. But having light plastic pedals on the DFGT did have one thing I liked, I could just keep my big toe on the brake and that did offer pretty good control.

The other big one is that I really like the paddles on the G27 a lot more.

And since then the button issue is not even a problem anymore, would like a little more separation on the G27, but it's easy to overcome.

Oh yeah, one thing that does irritate about the G27 when connected to my PS3, there is no PS button. Argh...but at least I have a ps3 controller nearby.

And of course some of the other obvious stand outs, I realy like having a shifter. So it always helps to know exactly what gear you are in. So on cars that use the shifter, it's nice to be able to downshift from say 5 to 2 if you know it's a second gear corner. Just feels more natural especially if you are driving the Mustang.

Okay one more thing I noticed when I did this a few months ago. The prices on the G27 is like the stock market. It seems the price is up and down on Amazon, it's currently at 261, but when I got it for 229 and free shipping.

I also signed up for the Amazon prime thing at the same time to get free 2 day delivery and 3.99 overnight. You can cancel the Amazon prime thing within a month so if you plan on any holiday shopping try to do everything at once.

Yeah the paddle shifter is great especially since they intoduced the new transmission model last season. But I got my G27 for $150.00 from logitech. I had a G25 and the tabs broke on it. I called logitech asking if I could send it in for repair instead they offered me a G27 for half price all I had to do was send in my old G25

I think the best bang for your buck is going to be with a Fanatec setup, not so much for the wheel, but the pedals. I have the DFGT and I'll be replacing it soon with this http://www.fanatec.de/webshop/new_us...1f4f1a896ddb8b

I thought I could slide by without a clutch, but with the new transmission model it's really a must now and will only complete the sim experience.
