please try them out. After raping the drift practice races, we couldn't do **** in the actual race drifts. I think there needs to be a patch ASAp!

I am trying them today, just input them. The only question I have are these two:

      steering lock - 360
      steering lock (drift) - 300

The highest I see I can go for these is 270. I'm using the MS wheel and am on the 360, perhaps that is the difference? I think the PS3 G25 and G27 has a wider turn radius perhaps than the MS wheel?

Anyways, trying them now...I just put the above two settings on max of 270...

        Re: Shift 2 Unleashed Impressions

Well I think those settings helped but only in regards to racking up points quickly in the tutorial. I still wasn't really drifting right. I was more fishtailing than anything (and racking up points). It just seems as if the back end is not "slippery enough" and there needs to be a bigger difference in going from it sliding to it sliding OUT from behind you and spinning you. Basically you go from hardly sliding at all, so you give it a slight, tiny, tiny, TINY bit more gas and it goes to spinning out. It's just f'ed up i think the way it is now, at least with a wheel. I give up.

This is the exact same way I played the first Shift. Will have to buy this game afterall I guess!

I'm having so many ups and downs with this game. I've been doing the career mode, got it complete up to 85%. So I started racing online with some friends and we have discovered there is a major problem with the collision detection. Even when you pass someone cleanly with plenty of room to spare they will sometimes go spinning out as if you hit them. Pain in the arse.

Also the other day after I downloaded the update my profile would no longer load and I lost everything and have to start the game all over.

I really wish game dev's would test their product before releasing it.

Starting Sunday, this is going to be $39.99 at BBY......it is $49.99 this week, but its going $10 cheaper.

Patch 1.02 has released as of today and guys on GTPLanet are claiming it has fixed quite a bit of the issues.

                Re: Shift 2 Unleashed Impressions

I had a hard time believing all the praise over the patch and mostly chalked it up to the placebo effect. Then I downloaded the update today. I don't think it is people's imagination. The patch has really turned the handling around and vaulted this game to the top of my favorite racer list.

I am able to run with no assists what-so-ever and the cars are very manageable. Very realistic. They definitely don't seem to break traction too easily now and the twitchy straight line handling is gone.

This patch and the Legends pack took this game from a mediocre 6.5 to an solid 8. There is still room for improvement but overall it is a very fun game. $40 is a great deal and makes the Legends pack a no brainer add-on.

Post patch, this is everything I wished GT could've been for years. I know this will sound crazy, but in comparison, Shift 2's handling feels more "on the edge" compared to GT, but in a good way. The handling feels very good.

Racing against the AI is excellent. Great selection of tracks, great selection of cars, etc. To me, this has become a great RACING sim, as opposed to a driving sim.

I went with Shift 2 since it was $39. I will get MCLA at some point though to check it out. I wonder how bad Shift 2 was before patch 1.02, because this thing seems to handle pretty good with the new patch installed.

I've played for 1.5 hours so far and this reminds me a bit of Forza 3 in some ways. I am glad so far that this is not torture like GT5.

                      Re: Shift 2 Unleashed Impressions

I put Shift 2 away for awhile. I was becoming more and more frustrated with the lack of control and the inability to actually attack a track. The other night, my brother in-law was over and he wanted to try it. Whatever. I watched him bang around the track for about 30 minutes, and then I gave it go. I was easily breaking all of my track records after having not played it for about three weeks. I attributed it to driving a D class car and just having a feeling of a little more control after driving some of the A and B class cars. Then I remembered seeing the update as I started the game...

I see a few of you feel the handling is much improved. Has anyone else noticed a significant difference since the update?

The handling is very good with the new patch, never tried it before......but this game is starting to just get on my nerves. The AI is really pissing me off and the irritation comes when all they do is keep smashing into my car. I guess Mad Studios was going for a bumper car experience here. The real disappointment, where are the Mustangs? LOL! They have the Selby in there.

I also notice that there isn't an arcade mode in this game to just take the cars for a spin, major fail.

I don't have too many problems with the AI. A few are overly aggressive but for the most part if you don't take liberties with the AI they tend to keep their distance. Get on their bad side though and they will make you regret it.

You can setup races and time trials against the AI so not sure what you mean by arcade mode. If you are talking that you cannot roll out in any car you want - only the ones you own, then I agree. I hate that there is not even a test drive so we can try a car out before dropping a bunch of money. I assume it has something to do with EA 'selling' car unlocks for MS points. The more they force you to eat up your in-game money on test driving cars the faster you might run out and be willing to pay for a quick car unlock.

I am loving this game after the patch and with the legends dlc. I love the old cars and the new tracks. Sure it could still use a tweak or two but for me it is a great sim racing experience for the consoles.

I really wish I would still have this. It was just too atrocious to keep when it first came out. It was so frustrating. Ah well, I think I'll be putting my $ towards Dirt 3 now rather than picking Shift 2 up again. Glad you guys are enjoying it though. I knew it had potential.. just wasn't sure if they would fix it with a patch.

This game is damn near perfect, imo. Just has a seriously frustrating learning curve. After I put in a good 4 hours of learning these damn controls ("floaty" is the right word, but with needless stigma), cars handle like a dream. Clean runs, and even just clean sections, are just so incredibly satisfying:

Maybe I'm just high off this "cool, a new game that I love" feeling, but this game has catapulted right into my top five games this gen.
