Love driving the Bugatti. The engine sound is spot on and I thought it was pretty cool that once I got to a certain speed, a rear spoiler opened up to an upright position. Never noticed that with any other game with the Bugatti in it.

Sounds like the same issues people have on the console version as well.

I wonder if there is a way to edit it on the PC in a config file or the like.

The more I play this, the less I like it. Controls do feel really floaty

i noticed that the game is less arcade-like then the previous years and people are still complaining. also, i just played an hour of shift 1 and an hour of shift 2 for the ps3 and no the graphics are NOT better on shift 1. to be honest they are about the same. shift 2 does have a list of new great features that are not in shift 1 and thus making this game a worthy purchase. just my 0.02

That is how they felt last year as well. I was hoping that it would be improved upon.

Thank you for this. I just picked up the game during lunch (never owned Shift 1 though). I will have some thoughts tomorrow on how it feels, graphics, etc. Thanks all for your impressions thus far.

anyone who turned off helmet cam in the first 15 minutes, I suggest trying it again off and on for several days... it is starting to connect for me now and it is very cool...

yes lighting solution is better, night racing is sweet but the downgrade in Anti-aliasing is noticeable but not game breaking

Graphics are definitely not bad on PC...But the controls are a piece of doo doo, until they patch them or find a fix...

nice pics... yeas PC has 4xMSAA and up to 16x AF so console versions look like a jaggie mess compared to it.

But the lighting is much improved over s1

The first two cars feel the same. Just a disconnected feeling between me and the steering wheel.

-The Nissan GTR drives like a Buick.
-The 135i drives like a Buick.

                      I stopped playing after that.

Sounds just like the first Shift. I cannot believe they kept the twitchy handling when so many on the forums and the media called it for the cold sore on the face of the pin-up girl it is. Even the patch for Shift1 tried to address the complaints with the oh so generic note, "Improved car handling".

If it is anything like Shift 1 you can find a suitable balance with enough car and controler tweaking. The wheel also makes a night and day improvement to the overall feel as well as staying inside the car view.

The question remains - why is a major game component like handling still getting the same prevalent complaints that were levied against the original?

yeah, i'm really hot and cold on this game. my modded VW is fun to drive but then they give me a stock 911 to do a hot lap and it handles like garbage (um.. NOT Realistic at All). but, i know if i get some mula and mod the 911 it should be much better. it's just frustrating that cars like an Elise (or Exige) are fishtailing in their stock form. It's just not even close to sim. I think the game is good with modded cars and adjustments to the settings, but the stock cars just seem to be WAAAY off of what they should drive like.. I just don't know if I have the patience to mod ALL my cars to make them drivable.. ugh.

As far as the twitchy car handling goes, Down force is your friend, go into car tuning and adjust accordingly. You can also adjust the steering for each car here to fine tune the control of the car. I use the Quick tuning method by pressing "X" on the 360 so it must be "square" on the PS3.

About the overall look of the game (console), no it's not a game killer, just a bit of a let down. Last night I went into the calibration options in the Audio/Video section and adjusted my contrast and brightness using their guide, and the look of the game improved a bit as far as lighting goes. However the trees still look like cardboard cutouts that are pasted on the screen. The city courses look much better then the country one's. On the 360 Shift 1 looks better all around. I've got two 360's and I did a side by side comparison, Same course, same car, shift 1 wins, much cleaner, much more detail.

I'm going to complete the career mode and I've been playing online with friends. Still a disappointing game for me, but again it's not a bad game, just not what I was expecting.

I forgot to add, turning that douche off that says go, go ,go, get to that first turn, and so on improves the game greatly.

i really think its more of getting used to the handling than anything else. i remember shift 1 being a lot easier however that made people complain about the arcade feel of it. if you play around with the tuning it will help. i bought the most expensive tires for all my cars and they make a difference as well. its difficult to hit turns at 80mph with cosco tires on haha.

Is it possible to use any other cars besides the ones in your garage for a "Quick Race"? I just got the game and wanted to try out some of the cars, but I can only choose the car I purchased. Am I missing something simple?
