The graphics are not overwhelmingly better than last year, but you can definantly tell they have improved."They talk about the Alabama family not being reasonable and realistic. Well hell no, we're not supposed to be reasonable and realistic. We're Alabama, we're supposed to be the best."

Re: NASCAR Thunder 2004 released today
I hadn't played any of the previous versions on the PS2, but the graphics are absolutely great in my opinion. Really, the only downside is the smoke. It seems to have walls or layers to it, but it's hard to get smoke done correctly anyways without slowing down the frame rate. There's absolutely no draw-in, at least that I saw. Great job on the graphics.
Also, you can really sense the speed in this. I can't remember if it was here or somewhere else, someone was asking about that and the majority of the people said you couldn't really sense the speed in previous versions.Comment

Re: NASCAR Thunder 2004 released today
EA did a shoddy job with the XBOX version. Not only does NT2004 remind you of a Playstation game but the framerate drops and pauses at times. Totally inexcusable from EA, it's going back tomorrow.
Fortunately the PC version shines and after playing it, it would be hard to look at the PS2 or Xbox version again.Comment

How's the physics model?
That's the main reason I got rid of 2002 and 2003. The driving model was just plain bad. It didn't feel right.
Has NT 2004 improved this?
Thanks for the post!

Randy M. seems to like it. He admits it's not ready to overtake Papy's sim just yet but EA is taking this sim very seriously. His review is up and overall gives the whole package a nice grade.

But has EA dumbed-down the physics and racing model of the console version, as it does with all of its licensed racing games?
Serious question, not a bash.
Take care,

Yeah PK it's a joke (XBOX), stay away from this one. I was expecting a dumb down version anyway but it looks god awful like a PS1 game. It comes with jaggies, it looks grainy and the framerate can't hold steady with lots of dips and pauses. It's a PS2 port to the max.
OTOH the PC version is stellar, not quite ready to dethrone NR2003 but it's knocking at the door. Yes in one years time it's improved that much. It even got the attention of Randy M.
Sad that EA keeps treating the XBOX like a step child when you have games like Rallisport 2 and Pro Race Driver 2 which both show off the power of the Xbox, sad.Comment
