I've got to respectfully disagree, Rodster. The game looks great in my opinion, and I haven't experienced any slowdown at all. Could it look better? Absolutely, but if you compare this to a PS1 game, you need to back up and step away from the crack pipe.

The game is much improved over last year's version in every way. The sense of speed is actually a lot better with this version.

As for the pc version, who cares? It doesn't approach the quality of Nascar Racing 2003, so why even mess with an inferior product? I've already got the best pc Nascar game, I want one that I can play on my consoles. With no new version of Heat planned, Thunder is it and I think it fits the bill quite nicely. I originally bought the PS2 version, but took it back yesterday once I realized that the online feature was such a joke. After picking up the Xbox version, I can say that it looks and plays noticeably better than the PS2 version.

So for anyone on the fence, I'd say rent the game because it's still a little on the arcade side, but damn fun to play anyway. If you have both systems, trust me the Xbox version blows the PS2 version away in terms of graphics, sound, and control. If you must have the decrepid online mode, remember, you can only play with one other human opponent. That's a joke and certainly not enough to warrant giving up the graphical and sound enhancements of the Xbox version.

It's a very fun and solid game and in no way resembles what Rodster said about it.

Well I respectfully disagree with you as well, and no I don't do drugs so that comment was uncalled for.

Maybe my XBOX has a problem but I can tell you that I have experienced lots of slowdowns and slight pauses in the game. If your XBOX game runs silky smooth i'm glad to hear and maybe it just due to my tired XBOX.

As for the PC version I agree with Randy M. that NT2004 is much improved and is worth a look considering it's much improved physics model, graphics and Career Mode. Is it NR2003 no and I never said they were equal but based on NT2004 for the PC I again agree with Randy that EA has begun to close the gap. Hopefully NT2005 will make further strides as well.

Badgun, some of us DO care..

After years and years of the Papy games, another Nascar sim that is improved, with the great career mode, has my interest. If the control could be tightened up, I'd probably play it offline more than Papy's game...even if NR2003 is "better". It's just a different type of fun, some of us care, bro

Terry,
What does it offer that the Papyrus game doesn't? Can you change the cars like in NR 2003 where you don't have to see Dale Jr across the hood of his car and Rusty across the hood of his?
No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?

Rodster,
I never thought for a moment that you did drugs, it was just another euphimism for "what is he smoking?". So if it offended you, I apologize, my brother.

Maybe you do have problems with your disk. I have not seen anything like what you described. If fact, the framerates for me appear to be as good as it gets. You know how EA games are...they consistently have problems with disc read errors and such. Just wondering if you tried a new disc would it be any better? Even the very first time I put mine in, I got a dirty disc error before I even finished putting the info in for my profile. Looked like a bad sign, but I haven't had any trouble with it since.

You might try exchanging it and see it that helps.

Yes, you can. And the entire career mode is there bro.

Signing sponsors, R&D, building cars...having special cars for Super Speedways, Road Courses, etc. Signing individual sponsors...driving for 20 years.

That's a whole lot that Papy's game doesn't have. Granted, it's "fluff", but the PC version doesn't drive horribly...it just has twitchy wheel control that I'm still messing around with. I had a volleyball league match last night, so I wasn't home to mess around with it a lot, but it wasn't crap. I didn't feel like instantly dismissing it.

So do you think this might be like Tiger Woods was last year? Console versions more on the arcade side and pc versions more on the sim side? Tiger Woods on the Xbox is an entirely different game than on the pc. I liked the pc version much better since it felt more realistic. Do you think this is the case with NT 2004?

BTW, who, if anyone is doing cars for EA's game?
No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?
