Re: NASCAR THE GAME 2013 set for PC

It gets better every update, but there is still a lot of work to do. I restarted a career and when I got to Phoenix, the outside line comes to a dead stop on the exit of 2 on the first lap. If you're qualifying outside, that means you either have to force your way inside, or get trained to the inside and lose 15 positions on the first lap as you have to brake check to avoid killing cars.

Same thing happens on the outside at Charlotte and other tracks, so it's frustrating from time to time. The difficulty is still unbalanced, as well. You can destroy the plate tracks on Hard, run well at some places, and then go to some tracks where the slowest AI car breaks the real-life track record on the same difficulty.

So there's still some work to do--but it's already much better than the 360 version that I have.

I play this "game" the following way... Set it to hard, use the default race setup, don't qual, don't pass until after the first lap, and most importantly turn off damage. (Not sure how I'm going to handle tire/fuel wear now.) Try it and you'll be surprised how much fun you have. I would love to call this a sim but it's not there yet. Still fun though.

Glad it went well for somebody. Tried to drive in the AERL Eutechnyx league, and everybody had to go 4 wide in T1, every restart. A 37 lap Talledega race went 41+ laps due to cautions every lap.

Then in Kentucky it was 53 laps, and by the time we got our 14th caution, I threw in the towel. No way I can run like that, it was insane.

Every online experience I've had with this game has made me want to vomit.

Well there was only 3 of us, but it was tight racing at Dover and The Glen - Game is a lot of fun if you don't have a room full of ****ing idiots racing.

              IMHO -

The best way to race this is game is simply finding 8-10 guys you know and trust and stick with them. For every random guy you find out there racing that is decent, you find 7-8 of them who are flat-out morons.

That was exactly my feeling last night. A couple of guys I had fun with like "ooh, it's the 5 car, it's the 42 car" etc...then you find some banzai idiot who flies in and makes it 3 or 4 wide while you're dueling, throwing everybody off.

I can see watching, finding out who's doing better in a duel, and taking advantage by following the guy past for position--but to completely throw it out of whack just forcing your way into the middle of both, wrecking everybody?

                I wanted to scream. Repeatedly.

Terry sorry to hear about your experience..but surprised I am not. I am telling you... Quick Sprint races and Time Trials have ruined online racing. Guys can't focus for more than 5 laps..

I am staying away from this game until there are A.I DNF's,improved damage and improved A.I over longer races than 20%.

Re: NASCAR THE GAME 2013 set for PC

It makes it hard to find a good group since there are many options for people to control/configure racing sims. I for one struggle with iRacing since I've never dialed in the controls. Every turn felt like I was going to spin out. It didnt feel like racing; felt more like ice skating with sneakers. So i can relate whenever I see someone struggling with controlling the car on the track.

On the flip side, you have the guys that feel the need to win the race on the first lap. That's when my frustration boils over. I've found a neat trick to keep the human to human ram-racing to a minimum.... Qualify up front, add a bunch of fast AIs to the sever let the donkeys/crazies go at it in the back of the pack. The good drivers always stay or work their way to the front. Works like a charm on Race '07.

I noticed that in our one or two races there. I could pick my way through the AI and made my way to your bumper after starting pretty far back. Then I'd inevitably start passing guys banzai'd off into the kitty litter every lap, it seemed.

I just don't get the mindset. No way you're going to win if you're out of control. I'd rather come in top 5 and calm than win and wreck everybody to get there.

Tried the game out before buying it and unfortunately it doesn't seem like my computer can handle it. I had the settings set so it played well, but I changed one thing and it screwed it all up.

Re: NASCAR THE GAME 2013 set for PC

I just recently picked up this game via a stream download. I am not a big follower of NASCAR on TV (it's just not my thing). But I figured NTG 2013 might help me understand the NASCAR season better. I am a real world Kart racer (only club level stuff) and I have tracked my 911. So I know what I am doing on a race track. I use a Logitech G25 wheel, I have an iRacing account (I am just a mid packer in iRacing and am better at road racing than ovals) and I had a great race at Daytona in this game doing a 100% length race at the "Champion" difficulty setting. At this difficultly level the AI was too much in a tight pack, but once the cars spread out, I could race with them, race clean and be patient with my passes and got through the entire 200 lap with just 2 cautions (one was my fault for not holding the line in traffic and the other was the AI ramming me from behind when I was in tight traffic). However now that I have moved on to Phoenix, the next race on the calendar, the car control I had with my G25 at Daytona is completely different than what I am experiencing at Phoenix. I have tried to tinker with the FFB settings of my wheel and have had some success from what it was when I first hit the track. But it's still not right. I have this Phoenix track in iRacing and while iRacing can be challenging with it's icy feel, this game is just buggered up when it comes to my Logitech G25 wheel. I have a feeling this game was made for people with XBox hand controllers and little work was done to support the wheel owners. Unless I can get my G25 working better, there is no point going any farther in this game which is unfortunate as I was thinking I could use the game to help me understand the NASCAR season more than I currently do.
