In present day, however, the landscape seems to have been changing for quite some time. The only relatively new series PC titles that I can point to is F12013 and Nascar the Game. However, I'm not a huge fan of F1 and Nascar the Game is still teething.
So then, what about GT, touring car, or similar series? Well, DTM Experience just came out, but it has no pit stops (at least for now), which really turns it from a sim to glorified expansion of Simbin's Race Room Experience--which, by the way, I loathe because it's the whole F2P, microtransactions model that will most likely focus on sprint type races with various cars. Apparently their leadership doesn't want to go the way of formal series championship titles like GTR 2 anymore, which probably explains why we've heard nothing about GTR 3 and probably never will.
Now granted, GT and touring car road racing is more popular in Europe and the like, but even still, where are the (new) titles? Simbin was the only one making them and now they're going in other directions. Don't get me wrong, the Assetta Corsa's and Project CARS of the world have their place and I'll enjoy them for what they are, but man, the dearth of new "GTR's" and "Race On's" is disappointing.
I'll continue to enjoy GTR 2 and the like, but if nothing new comes out, what does that say about PC sim (series) racing for the future?
