Hey - you want a review that gives a score commensurate with the opinion of the "Average Gamer"? There are a ton of those - and all have rated RC2 highly. OS caters to a different audience.

Terry's review is obviously from a different perspective - that of a hardcore racing sim player.

While I'll agree that every review is indeed just "opinion", I also feel that some level of objectivity must be held in order to write a fair review.

Using the same logic that a hardcore sim racer might not like RSC2, would it be fair to have a hardcore sim basketball player review NBA Ballers? I know that Ballers is a bit more obvious in it's arcade presentation/gameplay, but I still think RSC2 accomplishes what it sets out to do. It's a game that tries to capture the fun factor of speeding down a mountain. The controls are extremely responsive and the graphics leave me breathless for the most part. At no point was I ever expecting a sim like experience from this game. That isn't to say that I don't appreciate a sim just like the reviewer might, however, I often enjoy arcade racers like RSC2.

A bit of sim perspective doesn't hurt the review, however when a game as good as RSC2 scores a 2/5, something is a bit skewed.

Geesh, come on there is nothing skewed about it. In the bottom line it plain as day says if your a hardcore sim gamer that you prolly wont like. I am guessing and probably right that those who are complaining about the rating are not hardcore gamers.

In the same paragraph it says if you are &gt;NOT&lt; a hardcore sim gamer than you would probably give it a 4/5. Well he gave the score on his perspective.

Any gamer who is reading the review will see the high points he pointed out and then also be able to read the other parts of the review and make their own deduction.

As has been said thousands of times no review is going to satisfy everyone, which is why it is the reviewers opinion, including the score.

I can also guarantee that there are a lot more that feel like Terry in his opinion and his score, with me being one of them. The arcade racers will prolly disagree which so far are you two. Props to you for enjoying it, mine went back today as it does not give me anything that PGR2, TOCA, or Colin McRae hasnt given me already, other then XBL, and that wasnt done very well at all in my opinion.

Any other OS staffers that need to come to Terry's rescue? I thought I could give my opinion here about the review that was given. Anyway, back to my original point, what the heck is a 2/5 score. The other reviews I have seen on this site are ranked out of 100. Given this context, 2/5 tells me that this game gets a 40% mark which clearly tells the reader- this game is a piece of crap. Such a commentary on the game is so completely out of line with other reviews that I must infer that it is incorrect. In all honesty, if Terry doesn't like the game because he prefers a sim, then give it a 70 to at least acknowledge the good points of the game. I hope I'm not ambushed by OS staff now for these comments. Remember, this thread has been opened to invite us to voice our opinions on this review.
