Any other OS staffers that need to come to Terry's rescue? I thought I could give my opinion here about the review that was given. Anyway, back to my original point, what the heck is a 2/5 score. The other reviews I have seen on this site are ranked out of 100. Given this context, 2/5 tells me that this game gets a 40% mark which clearly tells the reader- this game is a piece of crap. Such a commentary on the game is so completely out of line with other reviews that I must infer that it is incorrect. In all honesty, if Terry doesn't like the game because he prefers a sim, then give it a 70 to at least acknowledge the good points of the game. I hope I'm not ambushed by OS staff now for these comments. Remember, this thread has been opened to invite us to voice our opinions on this review.

Why do noobs put so much emotion into a NUMBER. He clearly stated if you are into arcade racing, you'd assess it around a 4. Your probably one of those people who counts every xbox game on gamerankings and uses that to troll forums or something.

PS - The reviews aren't out of 100 because of whiners like you.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I should have known someone like yourself would post something like this. Anyway, Erv, I can assure you that I didn't put half as much emotion into my post as you put into yours. At least I didn't resort to name calling. By the way, noobs is not a word. I'll assume you meant knobs. Rather than respond in detail, I'll let the intelligent people who read these boards judge the quality and value of your post.

P.S. Don't forget to vote for Bush.

This reviewer (Terry) obviously has one big problem....he takes himself too seriously. I've played tons of racing games and only a handful have been better than Rallisport Challenge 2. The time attack mode alone offers hundreds of hours or racing addiction because it allows you to raise your overall ranking on Xbox Live. The challenge of sliding through turn after turn to improve you times is beyond addictive, and fun. I just don't get this review at all. A 2/5?? That score does not reflect the quality of the game, or the fun and challeng offered. I give the review a 2/5.

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

everyone has different taste, some people actually like the EA Nascar series, but I can't stand the handling of the cars...I prefer a more realistic racing model. This is Operation Sports, meant for more 'hardcore' sports gamers. The reviewers are harder on sports titles. Madden and ESPN Football get brought through the ringer because people that visit this site are sports fans that want detail. Terry just did the same thing with Rallisport Challenge 2, reviewing it as a sports gamer, rather than just a casual racing fan.

Also, anyone who puts huge stock in rating values isn't getting the best advice, IMO. Read the review, he said that an arcade racing fan would give it a 4, so he qualified his review score. I'd much rather read a review like this than one that doesn't mention anything of substance and just gives a game a 90%. We all don't like the same things, read the review and form your own opinion.

Just my 2 cents, i've seen reviewers catch way too much flak, most of it undeserved.

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

If you give an idiotic score of 2/5 to a game as good as Rallisport Challenge 2 you are going to get flack. If opinions are'nt welcomed then don't make a thread for comments on the review. I've never seen a more defensive bunch of people in my life. Reviewers on here feel free to critize, yet get overly defensive when they themselves are critized. Normally I would'nt comment on someone's review. But a 2/5 is a dishonest review. Also, don't give me that hardcore sports gamer garbage. I myself am a hardcore sports gamer, and generally detest 'arcade' sports games. Rallisport Challenge 2 does'nt fall into the 'arcade' category in my opinion. There are far more sim elements than arcade.

            " But a 2/5 is a dishonest review."

How can an opinion be dishonest if its really how you feel? Dishonest would be giving the game a higher score to just make people who bought it already think they got a good product.

I don't know what to tell ya...in the actual review, he lays out that this game got a 2/5 for him, but could get a 4/5 if you're more of an arcade gamer. I know Terry knows his racing games, he's schooled me on multiple titles. The game may have sim elements, but if the handling isn't adequate for sim racing fans, the rest doesn't matter.

To me it comes down to the fact the number (2/5,3/5,etc) doesn't matter...there could have been no rating whatsoever, and I'd have been able to make my own informed opinion.

It's fine to be critical of reviews, but they are opinions, and your "2/5 isn't right" complaint is really taken care of if you read the whole review. If anyone just looks and says "oh, it got 2/5" without reading the review, then that's their fault.

Re: Our RalliSport Challenge 2 Review

i think that alot of people come to this site to read reviews before making purchases. I do alot of research before I buy games, becase 50 bones is alot to plunk down when u have a wife, kid and a race team to support. I happened to buy this game the day it came out, based on the last title. If i would have waited, and read the review, i may have missed out on one hell of a game. I dont think anybody would buy this game thinking it is a sim game, they know that going in. Therefore, reviews should reflect that mentality. I would never base my review of NFL street on the fact that it doesnt play more like madden, that is not the point of the game. The fact is there really is no solid rally game out there thats a sim, Collin is by no means a true sim, especailly with fake tracks, etc. I dont think this site understands sometimes what kind of pull they have on the sports gaming community. Some people may look at the score, read the first paragraph, and dismiss the game altogether, which would be a shame. I understand that the reviewer has his own opinion of racing games and how they should be, but dont review the game on these opnions alone, otherwise nothing would get high marks unless it is a pure sim, which none even really exist. I own a USAC sprintcar team, as well as the former owner of Paragon Speedway in indiana. I know my racing, and this game blows away the racing competition so far this year as far as addictiveness and level of fun. Just accept the games for what they are, then add a sidenote that this game is not for sim gamers. Dont bash games for not fitting into your cup of tea.

Can you not stand someone disagreeing with you? If you can't, you should get off your reviewing high horse now - because you obviously don't have a thick enough skin.

Yes, opinions are welcome. We do not, however, need to merely post "My God! Shamrock! You are correct! A Genius! You cleared my eyes!"
