Yeah it sucks they couldn't get the rights, but unlike NFL games, there are alot more rights to get. And drivers are constantly changing teams and sponsors, so I could see how they'd have trouble.

On a framerate note, I picked up the XBOX version, and if you played it last year, its the same as this year. As you go through the corner the graphics look great (smooth, good FPS), but when you exit down the straight, the framerate slows down and the aliasing picks up. Its like a constant fight between an XBOX and a PS2 game. I picked up 2004 on the PS2 last year and the framerate was more constant, although it was overall a little slower and uglier (jaggies).

Just wanted to compare for those not sure which system to get.

Re: Does anyone have nascar 2005 for X-box yet?

Alright guys, I'm going to go ahead and proclaim this game a big winner online! I've pretty much played it for the last 5 hours and I mean I had a blast. I raced mostly at Daytona and Talledega but I did run a few other tracks too.

Let me get to why it's so fun online. I used mostly default settings veteran diffculty, moderate damage, no cautions, tire wear and fuel on, and minimal assists. We ran 4% races at first which gave us 7 lap sprints at Talladega. You don't have to pit, but by the last few laps you're experiencing tire wear so you really have to nurse your tires. We found bumping it up to 12 laps at Talladega would make it impossible to finish without pitting.

I raced all night long with random groups of 4 humans with 19 AI cars and not once did anyone make an *** of themselves, drive backwards, or wreck anyone on purpose. There were actually very few turn 1 crashes and the 4 humans usually start 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th if you don't qualify. We didn't qualify because it took longer.

Here's a few cool things I noticed that EA has added. First of all, if you crash hard in the first turn, you will lose all your fuel. Then if you try and limp back to the pits to gas up, you will be disqualified for not being up to speed. Also, every wreck causes your tires to wear more so if you bash someone, you're not going to get away with no damage. What these two things have done, is caused the intentional wreckers to basically have nothing to play for as they will get dq'd as a result of their foolishnes. After people realized that if they screwed up in the first turn that their car would be screwed up by it, they seemed to take it easy and let the cars spread out a little before making their move. This is really a good thing. It might sound harsh, but trust me, if you drive like you've got some sense, this will never affect you.

Another real cool thing is that EA added a handicap of sorts to let back markers get back in the race. If you get spun out on the first lap and fall 45 seconds behind, your car will run 210-215 MPH until you get back in the race, while the leaders are still running 190. I know this sounds kinda cheesy, but really it isn't. It's actually quite challenging to hold the car on the track funning 215 and trying to weave in and out of traffic. One race I got spun early and was 23rd and 52 seconds down and I made up all that time and actually had a run on the winner, but finished second. Almost everyone I played with commented on how cool this feature was. If you don't like it, I think you can turn it off.

At first I thought it was kind of cheap only having 4 human racers, but after racing all night, I can see why EA did it this way. Can you imagine 16 humans at Bristol? Would there be wrecks on every lap? Martinsville? Four players is a lot of fun, especially with the AI cars in there. Let me tell you, the AI cars are brutal, too. You think you've got to worry about Joe Cheeser wrecking you? Hehe, you just better hope you don't tap Joe Nemechek in the rear early in the race because he will hunt you down and put you in the wall.

I mentioned earlier that there didn't seem to be anyway to tell the AI drivers from the human drivers. Well, I was wrong. The human cars have a little tag with the car number above them and the AI cars don't. Would have made more sense to have the player's name above the car like most racing games, but this way works well enough, I suppose.

To me, this is the best EA Nascar game ever and even with the slowdown, it's still a blast to play. I feel like I got my $50 worth tonight alone with the online play. The career mode is a lot like Dirt to Daytona if you ever played that so it's going to be tough for me to figure out if I want to play career or online as both modes are just a ton of fun.

I'm going to give this game a big thumbs up and slap my old man's seal of approval on it.
No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?

I ordered my copy from easports.com, which is turning out to be a huge mistake. It still says that an Un-released Title ordered.

URG, NEVER ordering from there again.

Can anyone tell me what : speed(FOV) means? It is in the options menu during a race.
