Re: NASCAR Heat Evolution 2 wishlist

I'll echo some others here. The ability to look around is key. I can't tell you how many times I've hit the button for look left and right on my wheel only to remember, oh yeah, we don't have that.

Pack Racing at Daytona and Talladega

I would say add trucks and xfinity cars, but the Monster Cup needs to be up to snuff before adding those.

I agree to a point, but Career Mode is virtually useless as a serious racing mode until they can implement the Xfinity and Truck series. The current model built around rubberbanding A.I. and garage upgrades is not a whole lot of fun. But if they put Career on standby for another year to focus on other areas, that's understandable.

I think that is very important to keep in mind. The "base"/engine of the game, the deep down coding, probably will hamper some of the things we are clamoring for. There are ideas the developers had early in development that they're sticking with and I'm afraid we will be stuck with them (physics models come to mind).

I do agree though that it's good for us to voice our wishes and show constructive support. We're doing a lot more than all the "ur game sux" social media comments and I'm very happy to say that. I'm cautiously optimistic to see what the sequel will hold and I'm going to enjoy game 1 in the series through this season.

To add: I think you all have said everything I want. Just in case, my biggest ones

        -Monster Energy branding
        - new points system
        - damage model
        - update the first person view to include digital gauges (see Forza 6 NASCAR expansion for ideas).
        - 360 view of the car in 3rd person camera
        - physics! Instead of two separate systems, do one and let players choose the assists we want.
        - mini map of course
        - in race replays

These are my main wishes and they seem to line up with the rest of the suggestions mentioned

Forgot adjustable FOV as well. I don't need to see that much of the cockpit on an ultrawide monitor. Let me get zoomed in and closer to the track please

Yeah, I want to use the cockpit cam but that view is way too claustrophobic. Hopefully we can get several decent camera/fov options, and hopefully we can save our camera preferences this year? Buttoning through views at the beginning of every race gets kinda annoying.

Re: NASCAR Heat Evolution 2 wishlist

This wishlist isn't necessary for the next game but just for future games going forward.

              - Over time base the career mode off NASCAR Thunder 2004's career mode. I think now with the new rules of qualifying where you could go home, it adds intrigue in qualifying. If you miss races, it can hurt your value and hurt getting sponsors early on in your career.

              - I'm pretty sure NASCAR would have to approve this. Have an option in settings in career or season to pick a Championship Format. Say.... 2017 format, the 12 Driver Chase Format, the Original 10 Man Chase Format and even the Pre-Chase Format.

              - Include NASCAR Legends as unlockable drivers.

              - Create A Track. Let us create different types of tracks that we can use in Race Now, Season and Career Mode. This also would have to give us the ability to edit future schedules in career mode.

Create a track mode eh? Now that sure would be a really cool addition. I'm not sure it's necessary at this point, the game has other issues that should take priority, but I'm not totally opposed to this idea. I think it would be pretty awesome for replay value similar to the course creator in The Golf Club.

I love the idea of unlocking legends for the "Play Now" mode.

I'd also like the ability to run Career mode either as my created driver, or a current Nascar driver, maybe even legends.

I too would love to have legends in the game, to unlock and race against/with. Imagine driving that legendary #3. That would be incredible. I'm sure there would be too many hurdles to overcome for that to be a legit option though.

Create a track would be interesting, but I'm more on realism and don't think I'd ever use it. I'd rather resources go elsewhere.

On the subject of legends, I too would love to see them in the game. But yeah, it would probably be a licensing nightmare. The best solution might be a robust creation mode which allows you to create nearly any driver or car model imaginable.

Take the WWE2K series for instance. In those games you can import skins and logos and combine them with in-game models to create just about anyone, and your creations look nearly as good as the in-game models. There's no reason a NASCAR game couldn't do the same thing, but they'd have to commit a large amount of time and resources to making it happen I'm sure.

I was watching some NASCAR Racing Season 2003 vids this weekend and was blown away by the amount of customization in that game. You could run a current 2017 season (sans rule updates of course) or run a Grand National circuit from the 1960's, it's totally amazing what you can create in that team. Sure it's a PC game, but it's also a 14-year-old PC game and console customization has come a long way in that time.

For those of us that would like to run a full race, but don't have the time sometimes, the ability to stop and save at any point during a race would be a nice feature.

I actually own NR2003 but I don't have the PC to handle it. But there are a few mod sites out there keeping that game up to date and alive. Still known as the best NASCAR game ever made.

I'm sort of in the same boat, I found a really cheap copy but my main desktop CPU is a Mac so I can't run it. I do have an old PC laptop in the garage, maybe I'll fire it up just to install NR2003 and see how the mods work. Would love to race a full 1969 Grand National season as The King.

I did install and do some mods to my current laptop, but it's just not powerful enough to run it full go. Plus I don't have a PC wheel which makes it really tough.

Re: NASCAR Heat Evolution 2 wishlist

I have a whole list I am working on for this but the mention of NR2003 is one of my main references when it comes to damage model and physics.

If your notice in NR2003 when you get into the rear quarter panel of a car, they spin with a slight chance to save. In NHE, the cars feel like they are a 10000 pound truck when you collide. They also feel like they are on auto pilot and make immediate correction. From a physics standpoint these cars are moving so fast that is actually reduces the force it should take to make them spin when contacted in rear quarter panel. This is a must for the next rendition.

Then comes the damage model. I won't go into detail, as that will be in my list. But every part of the car should be damageable. It takes very little contact in real life to cause the maximum damage shown in NHE. I have it much better stated in my list, but that's a quick snapshot.

The more I look at NR2003, the more I wish that DMi would (heavily) borrow inspiration from it. I'm pretty sure they already do, NR2003's "Adaptive Speed Control" is basically the same component as NHE's "Auto" AI.

Another thing I've love to see in a sequel; day-to-night transitions. NASCAR 09 did a great job with this, it made me want to race longer races as you get a sense of progression racing while the sun is setting and the environment is changing around you.
