Re: NASCAR Heat Evolution 2 wishlist

I'd like more customization. Creating my own design is one of my favorite things to do. Loved creating logo & design in NBA 2K. So would like to have more options for designing my car and stuff.

Also, more drivers. If I want to do a career and put guys in it to race against like Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon, and now Carl Edwards in it for some of the no-names, then let me. Some sports games let you replace several teams with others and this is what I want!

I'd like to see a Nascar game or racing game in general give you a "Roster File" similar to Madden or Fifa where we can change / Manage how we would like to see drivers and what teams they are on and all. Complete with a Free agent pile or legends pile. Maybe add contracts in? Something I have thought would be nice to have for a while. If the NFL can allow something like this surely Nascar would too.

I would definitely love the ability to edit driver ratings, whether it be at each individual track or if they have it set up and group under types of tracks. Nothing worse than seeing good drivers ride around in the back.

In the first game they have them ranked 1 to 40 in each type of track. There isn't a 1 to 100 scale like other sports games. It obviously only works so well when Keselowski is rated top 6 in all but road courses but half the races he is in the back of the field. I haven't seen anything for qualifying ratings. So part of the problem might be that most people do short races and the good drivers that don't qualify well don't have much of a chance to move up the field. There is also a "Chase weight" that is supposed to make the better drivers have a better chance of winning the Chase. I feel like if the ratings were correct they wouldn't need that in the first place.

Part of the problem is the way CPU AI is currently handled. As "better" basically equates to "faster," the AI can only take things so far. For instance, short track racing is a breeze on any difficulty because top speed on those tracks doesn't really help much. If would make a world of difference the higher-rated short track drivers actually raced smarter on those tracks, but they don't.

Re: NASCAR Heat Evolution 2 wishlist

Its somewhat surprising from reading the threads for this game as well as watching some youtube broadcasts of this title, that I can't seem to find a used copy in my area. I really just want to try the game myself, but I refuse to pay anything over $20 for it. I know from what I've seen and read its going to be a disappointment just like all of the other NASCAR console games in the past. Yet, I still want give it a shot and feel it out, enjoy what i can from it.

I have played NASCAR titles since NR1 on PC to Thunder 2004, to the NASCAR '15 game on Xbox360, and everything in between basically. Always with positives and negatives, no one seems to be able to just put it all together for an awesome title, at least on consoles.

I have been wondering this though....Is it even possible to produce such a game on PS4 or Xb1 with just the on-track physics comparable to NR2003 or Iracing? I'm not sure, even to run these games you need a mid to top line PC in terms of specs. Plus a lot of cash and time to put into Iracing. I'm not sure if a console could do it, but i do know if the developers of this franchise would lean on the NASCAR gaming community such as the group here at Operation Sports, they could make a great game.

It's been $20 a few times on Amazon, the PS4 version anyway.

It's a tough question to answer, but I think we can all agree it can be better. It may depend on how committed DMi are to the Unity engine, which is from most accounts a low-level tool for game design. I see lots of indie/budget titles running on Unity, I can't remember the last time I saw a AAA sports title running on it. Then again, I'm not a game developer so maybe anything is possible with Unity, who knows.

But look at Driveclub, Forza, F1. This is DMi's competition when it comes to console racing games, and all of those games are fairly well advanced in terms of physics and visuals. To be fair, NHE was the first iteration of the game. I'm hopeful that we'll see something more in line with current console racers with the sequel.

I believe its already been mentioned, but I would love to see the ability to miss a race in career. Trying to qualify for the 500 and not making it in on speed or racing in through the duels. Having to fight to make it into a race early in your career for a lower tier team would be nice to see.

Also the ability for CPU drivers to retire and having contract offers for filling their seats would be cool, granted you're good enough to do so. I recall that happening in the older EA Nascar games.

I too remember being able to take over rides of retiring drivers. I would always find myself taking over for Rusty Wallace lol. With all the licensing and stuff today, I highly doubt that would be an option. It would be awesome though!

It was always Dale Jarrett for me. Licensing garbage and all that aside, this is something that makes a career mode more immersive and fun.

I hope they will allow us to choose to race with the old rules as this new 3 stage thing is ridiculous. Nascar racing was always about doing a marathon and planning your pit strategy to try and get the advantage.

Sean confirmed via Twitter that they're using the same engine for the sequel. That is a bit disappointing, but expected. Let's see what they can squeeze out of Unity this year, fingers crossed. Maybe PS4 Pro optimizations can hit 60fps?

If they can fix/undo the rubberbanding AI and deepen the career options a bit, I'll be interested in getting back in.

I figured that would be the case, considering it's such a small budget game. On the bright side, sticking to the same engine will allow them to concentrate on improve on what they have so far. I think that's a good thing.

I use a controller and will never get into this enough to get a wheel.

With that said, it seems the controller handling in this game is bad. There seems to be a spot on either side of neutral where there is no input. Trying to get away from the wall I'll move the stick just a little bit with no response. Inevitably I'll go too far and wind up going into the middle and either crashing into someone or getting lucky and having no one there.
Maybe I just suck but I cannot race in traffic at all.

Also I need to have an option to make the right stick be the accelerator/brake. I cannot run a long race (particularly on a super speedway) squeezing that trigger the whole time. Is this option in there somewhere perhaps?
