Enjoying daily Race B this week. Finally reached A rating for the first timer after taking 2 wins this morning. Had a really nice last lap battle for the win in the first race.

Edit: sorry just realized it uploaded with no sound. Will have re upload later.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Review - A Legacy of Love on Display

Kind of slowed down a bit the last 2 weeks. I usually do the Daily B races and occasionally the A race. Not touching A races since they've decided to make that a free for all. Race B this week I just couldn't get my time down to a satisfactory position to help avoid the worst of the pack. After the changes to the penalty system racing at the D/C is a mess, combine that with my poor qualifying times and I really haven't been interested.

Hopefully a more favorable track to my style drops this week and I can put up a decent qualifying time.

When I saw Race B was Trial Mountain reversed I was a bit hesitant. Turns out this week's Race B has been more my speed. Did a ton of practice laps with various cars to see what clicked for this track as I always try to avoid the meta car. Ended up going with the Porsche. Current lap time is at 2:05 so about 7 seconds off the fastest guys. Right now that's good enough to start me at P5/P6. I think I can lower my time though just need to stitch those fast sectors together on the same lap.

Look up Tidgney on Youtube. He does race guides for the weekly races each Monday. Might really help you finding your brake markers and find you a little more speed.

Managed a 2nd and my first win being A DR this morning. Good confidence builder. Got the win, fastest lap and clean race bonus.

Here's the vid from my win this morning. First couple laps is where all the action is.

Signed with Jaguar and dove into the manufacturers cup for the first time over the weekend. Had a blast bump drafting with clean racing throughout the night. My best finish on the night was 6th, probably had a shot at 4th but I pitted one lap too late. The guy in the yellow WRX was determined to battle instead of working together and it backed us both up into the field.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Review - A Legacy of Love on Display

Update 1.17 has been a very good update.
                - It's nice being able to adjust the peddle settings now.
                - Can never go wrong with more stats about how you're doing in sport mode.
                - Finally a new course!
                - I bought the Ford Roadster just cause but can take or leave most of the new cars honestly.

So as for my actual racing. Still not really touching sport mode with the current penalty system in place. I just do the qualifying laps so I can compare times.

Friday I decided to start the switch to manual transmission. I've just been driving around in time trial mode. I use the same car (VW Scirocco) and drive 15 or 20 laps on. I've done this on 4 tracks so far, Laguna and 3 of the Blue Moon variations. So far it's not as hard as I thought it would be. Downshifting is where I think I'm losing most of my time right now. I'm getting consistent lap times though so that's good just a bit off my pace with auto.

There are so many fun cars to drive in this game it's a shame more people don't give other cars a shot.

Did a few laps around Watkins Glen over lunch. This circuit has some fast corners. Going to take a bit to be brave enough to be fast on this track, I haven’t done laps here since… probably Sierra NASCAR Racing 2?

Also, fair warning: the Escudo (a legend from Gran Turismo past) does not have functional headlights hahaha. Also it is a nightmare to keep on the road with a stock tune.

Just keep at it and manual will be second nature before you know it. Some cars you can get away with just banging down the gears but others require a bit of precision and timing to your downshifts so you don't upset the car. Good luck!! 🤙🤙

After 300 or so miles around the tracks this past week I think I'm getting the hang of manual driving. Definitely not perfect but just like the switch to wheel, I'm starting to wonder how I ever played any racing game with automatic transmission. The shifting is starting to just happen without much thought.

Also I'm I blind or is there not a way to scroll through all the laps you've done after completing a time trial or qualifying?

Anyway here are some recent photos.181b26a282b21-screenshotUrl.jpeg181b269ffa253-screenshotUrl.jpeg

Just a clip from the Daily Race B from the other week. Just a nice battle for position. Overall the entire race was one of my better experiences in sport mode. The 4K version should be finished processing shortly.

The work at the manual transmission change over continues. I've branched out from my trusty Scirocco and have driven a variety of cars from the Swift '17 to Super Formula. Still doing AI races and time trials.

To gauge my speed I still just run the qualifying laps of Daily Race B. This week at Interlagos I posted a 1:43:315 (GT-R) which is about 6 seconds of the fastest globally and 5 seconds behind the 150th fastest time. So that's encouraging as typically that's about the split that keeps me hovering between C/D driver rank on a good week.

We've had a couple of lap time challenges so far and finally managed to get into the bronze category for now. Super Formula seems to be agreeing with me. First few days I was stuck just outside of the +10% now I've cut my time down to 1:25.722 which is good enough for being +8.69% range. Definitely gives a bit of breathing room to hopefully get those $250K in credits. So not bad considering I switched to manual just a 2 weeks back. Also watching the top guys replay helps a lot. Really shows where I'm being a bit too conservative and can push the car more.

Nice video, like the 2 different camera angles. Yea you just have to trust the downforce in the Super Formula. The amount of grip is just insane.

Did a few laps this morning and got down to a 1:21.6 on a fairly scruffy lap before heading out to work. Will try to have another go tonight or tomorrow. Definitely a low 21 or high 20 there.

Nice. That time is just outside of the top 3% isn't it.
