I haven't tried entering the code yet. I'm gonna give it a shot now.

Where do you enter the code at?

I just played my first match on hard. I can honestly say, this is the best sports game I have played in terms of realism. Such a fantastic game, and I am excited to see all the matchups I can create. Well, here are my stats when I played with my favorite player (Nadal) against my 2nd favorite player (Murray). I will post my analysis afterwards, and early review.

      Nadal: Murray:
      75 1st serve % 95
      52 Win 1st serve % 51
      67 Win on 2nd serve % 0
      0 Aces 2
      0 Double Faults 1
      37 Winners 52
      10 Unforced Errors 26
      5/12 Break Points 3/6
      8/12 Net Points 3/3
      75 Total Points 66

      Quick Analysis:

Graphics: Player models especially are much improved. The stadiums look beautiful and the crowd looks decent. Players sweat throughout the match and I like the closeup of each player during the changeovers. 8.5 / 10

Gameplay: There is definitely a chess match involved between the players. The CPU made some adjustments during the match, including going for 1st serve more and hitting much more slice in 2nd set. I saw the ball hit the net tape much more for the CPU than me, and almost every time it hit his own side (about 9/10). Also, as you can see, Murray almost never missed his first serve. It should be closer to 55 -60 %. His serves although a bit faster in 2nd set, he could have went for much more. All in all, most realistic sports game I have played. 9.0 / 10

Presentation: I like the clapping, though wish there was more especially building up for late points. It could have been due to it being an exhibition match, not sure. I also prefer the fatigue bar from last year over this years one, but not a huge deal. I wish the stats were shown side-by-side through the course of the match, and also more in-depth stats like Forehand winner vs. Backhand Winners and Unforced Errors for both sides. Not to mention, the stats at the bottom right listed "Nadal has 10 faults this match" during 2 whole games, my service games and Murrays. Then, it also seems the net points are not calculated properly, as I check it after I win / lose a point at the net, and it doesn't mark it. It's the easiest one to check, but makes me suspicious about the other stats. A huge improvement though from Top Spin 3. 8 / 10

Lasting Appeal: There are so many different styles of play, which hopefully are similarly balanced. You could create so many different matchups that make this game playable for years. I hope Roddick for the CPU goes for much bigger serves than what I saw with Murray! I haven't played online yet, but I hope it's not laggy. Also, I hope there are some downloadable players to even increase the amount of options. Keep in mind I haven't played career mode yet. 9.5 / 10

Other: I noticed it really helps to hold in shot button while you are running towards the ball, because you get MUCH more power into the shot. Also, even though I play a lot of tennis, and am a top player on my school's team, I still did some dumb things during the game like doing my approach shot cross-court. Murray hit many winners from that mistake. I think if I did both of those things throughout the whole match, it would have been a bigger blowout. On a different note, I wish there was more than 2 outfits per each player and one to unlock. I think with only 25 players there should be 5 per player.

To poster who didn't know how to view replay, either switch it to very often in main menu or press y (on 360) if replay doesn't show up, right after the point is played.

Overall: One of the sports games I have ever played. I wrote down all the nit-picky stuff that I found during my first match. I could have filled up two pages with all the awesome things this game has and has improved upon. I am very impressed. So, after reading my review, don't think I am being pessimistic at all, I just wanted to write down all of my negative issues with it so far. 9.0 / 10

This game is absolutely incredible! I am currently the #1 player in the world on Xbox, and am loving every minute of playing this game. Earlier, I hit my first 'Tweener' to win a set with Retro Aggasi. It was an awesome shot!

As far as online goes, after about 35-40 matches so far, it seems as though Andy Roddick is the best player to use. The serving is unbeatable! I typically get at least 1 or 2 aces per serving game. I end up with around 10-14 for the game.

Re: Top Spin 4 Impressions/Questions Thread

Just got done playing a match on Very Hard in Career Mode. My player (currently level 6) versus Yuri Denisov (a level 3 guy). I won 6-2 6-1. Here's the stats.

            Me/Denisov
            1st serve %: 75%/90%
            Win % on 1st serve: 76%/49%
            Win % on 2nd serve: 57%/33%
            Aces: 1/2
            No double faults
            Winners: 39/24
            Unforced Errors: 8/14
            Break Points won: 4/8 / 0/0
            Net Points Won: 2/5 / 0/0
            Total Points Won: 59/36

Denisov played a lot sloppier in the 2nd set, probably had about 10 unforced errors in the 2nd set as you could just tell he was worn out. He's also the first person I've played that only attempted to rush to the net once and that was just because I had floated up a duck of a shot for him to smash (which I ended up saving and later getting a winner anyway).

I'm expecting the competition to be much more difficult when I play someone my own level because honestly, it was more competitive on Hard than it was in this match (although I swear Denisov forced me into a Deuce almost every game).

Re: Top Spin 4 Impressions/Questions Thread

Ok just played a few exhibition matches and hard is a good challenge for me so far. Great, great gameplay, very strategic and the cutscenes are superb in game.

I was Lendl against Blake in a full 3\5 sets. I lost the 1st 2 sets 6-4 6-3 (didn't really play the demo that much so I'm still learning) but by the 3rd set the unforced errors started piling up for Blake as he got tired and even the cut scenes showed him huffing and puffing with a sweaty shirt. Fatigue is definately tied to unforced errors. And it was easier to get winners by Blake because he was getting tired and his range was less.

Still lost the 3rd set 7-5 but Blake had more unforced errors in the 3rd set than the 1st 2 combined and fatigue is not the same across the board as Lendl was running around alot more in the match but he always had superb conditioning in his prime and had more stamina by the end of the match. So it looks like if you wanna be a power guy you better win your matches quick or you'll be gassed by the 5th set.

Play a match with real settings and you will see the effects as the match wears on. This will be great for career mode when you play the majors.

It might not have all the bells and whistles of other sports games but gameplay is top notch so far, career looks steller, presentation and atmosphere is fantastic and online should be pretty good. It's got everything that TS3 didn't. If you're a sim gamer and like tennis this is a must have just from my initial impressions from gameply. I don't care that we can only create 4 players and I don't care how many make wrist bands that Nadal has, for all the important stuff in a sports title TS4 is passing with flying colors so far.

And I love how positioning is so important in getting the most powerful and accurate shot. If you don't play smart you're gonna lose. They weren't lying when they said it's easy to learn but difficult to master.

I'll be playing this all nite just on exhibition. **** and I have to get up early for work tomorrow. I hate why devs pick Tuesday to release games. It should be Friday. So much better for my health.

20 just means that they've reached their highest level.

The same works in Career Mode. You start off low and have to work yourself up to a Level 20.

It's not an overall rating, I guess is the way to put it. It's a Level.

Now don't quote me on this guys but I remember reading somewhere (one of those dev diaries I'm pretty sure) about once your own CAP that you put thru career mode reaches level 20 then you can create many other CAPS that automatically are at level 20 as well. It made it sound like you could create more than the 4 slots they have now, or at least it suggested that. So maybe once your CAP reaches 20 it creates additional slots.

It just seems kinda weird that this game has a 4.9 GB install yet has so little slots open for CAPS.

Just played my first online match. Nadal (me) vs. Agassi (opponent). Best sports match I have played EVER. Say good bye to exploits and lag. I won the match 4-3 (7-2 in tiebreak), 3-0. Every point was close and very much a chess match game. I started out 0-2, but climbed my way back into it, and started to take control.

Anyone know a good strategy when a right handed player pulls a lefty in deuce court out wide. If you hit cross court, he has an open shot down the line. If you do down the line, then he still has the open court cross court. Maybe I should slice him, to slow slow down speed or lob him?? Any thoughts?

there is a quick builder unlock that sounds like what you are talking about, but i don't think it will change the slots. Probably will just allow you to create a maxed out cab from scratch without needing to level them up.

                          i hope your right though

some guy mentioned above that the CPU changes strategies during the game?

This is very important because it will make no 2 matches identical. In past tennis games, even on the hardest level, once you have figured out a NADAL , you will beat him 9 times out of 10, and the one loss coming when you're drunk or half asleep...you get the idea. We find the way to attack the cpu and that's it. We won't lose anymore.

If the cpu changes strategies, they can see that we have a go to move, they can adjust and each match becomes dynamic.

Can anyone comment on this ?

                            thanks

Personally I haven't noticed this very much. If you favor one side before the serve, every once in awhile the AI will notice and serve it to the other side for an easy ace, but other than that, I haven't noticed much, and I play on Very Hard.

Unrelated, but I thought this was pretty cool, I just switched from wearing a T-Shirt to wearing a tank top after the first 5 months and I noticed my guy has some serious tanlines on his arms and I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that at the beginning. Freakin cool.
