When you guys turn your PS3 off, do you just press the power button in the front or turn it off all together with the power button in the back as well?

I turn mine off with the controller first, then I flip the switch in the back of the PS3. Where I live in Florida it's lightning season, no sense leaving it in standby.

I've always left my consoles in standby. My PS2, PS3, and Wii (WiiConnect or whatever) are all in standby mode.

Yeah, I turn it off with the controller and leave it in standby, unless there's a threat of bad weather. Then I go all out and unplug it.

I turn it back on with the controller too.

Has anyone successfully used their PS3 to stream video from your computer to the TV your PS3 is on? I was gonna try the TVersity program tonight if I get the time.

Yes, tversity works great, even for unsupported codecs using the transcoder option. I had some audio codec issues which prevented some movies with AC3 to not play, but fixed the issue and everthing streams fine.

PS3 Firmware Update 1.90 is out for download!

                      1.90 Info
Customization is one new feature: you can now personalize the wallpaper on your XMB with a photo. This was one of the top three requests we received via the blog’s contact form. When viewing a photo, simply bring up the options screen by pressing the triangle button and selecting “set as wallpaper” from the options displayed. Additionally, you can now change the order of the games displayed under the game icon on the XMB.
Another new feature focuses on added communication elements: When you’re sending messages to friends on PLAYSTATION Network, you can now use emoticons. We’ve added a bunch of emoticons that can be easily accessed from the virtual keyboard. Also, another cool addition is, when an avatar is displayed during voice/video chat, the avatar will move in response to audio.
Finally, on the more technical side, you can now play AVCHD videos saved on a Memory Stick or digital video camera, and we’ve added the ability to upscale audio CD output from your PS3. Now, there are two requirements for this feature: the device you’re outputting to must support a sampling frequency of 88.2 kHz or 176.4 kHz, and your PS3 must be connected to that device with an HDMI cable or digital optical cable.
Oh, and one more thing: you can now eject discs using your controller by selecting “Eject Disc” in the options menu after you push the PS button.
Several other minor options will be included in 1.90 including a few new display options that will allow you to adjust your display while playing PlayStation, PlayStation2 and Blu-ray movies. More info on these options as well as detailed info on the rest of the 1.90 additions will be available later this week. We’ll update this post with a link to that info when it’s available.
We’re working on additional features for our next update that will incorporate more of your feedback, so as always thanks for all of your support, and please keep those suggestions coming!
Just downloaded it right now. Nothing too big as I didn't really care for the background. I like the color changing background in the XMB.

What I'm looking forward to is being able to press the PS button and get the XMB menu in game... hopefully this comes soon.

It's good though that Sony is really these firm ware updates pretty constantly.

I was wondering about that. I've only had my PS3 for a couple of weeks and the background is usually black but for some reason sometimes it's a light blue. At first I thought it was a video output problem until I noticed that it was only the background. It's only beenblue on weekends, or maybe it was because it's the only time I play it during the day? What determines the color?

Each month has it's own color and depending on the time of day it depends how bright that color is. Once it's evening/night time it will be black.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was really puzzled by it.

It would have been nice if they could have copied the PSP since the PS3 shares so much with the PSP. I like how you can select any color as your theme regardless of what month it is.

Never had a PSP but weird that they wouldn't include that. I much rather have that though than pictures. Really hated that yellow color sometime back in winter so it would have been nice to choose a color of my choice.
