I'd like to know too. I got a message the other day while playing NCAA and I didn't know if I could respond.

You have to go back to the XMB to respond, no way to do it in game yet.

As of now, I'm pretty sure you can't. It's supposed to be addressed in a future firmware update.

I'm sure they're running into problems implementing it though with pre-existing games as I'm sure we would've seen it already. Sony continues to amaze me with the frequency of their firmware updates.

Don't know how many more of these updates we are going to get before Home... wasn't 2.00 suppose to be the big Home update?

I guess so. It just sucks to see a message indicator pop up and not be able to check it until an hour later for sports gamers who are in the middle of their games

do they happen to sell 2- pronged power cords for the ps3? Reason I ask is that with the cord it comes with, I have a nice buzzing sound & also get lines in my picture - also read that the reason this happens is because of the third prong (the grounding one)

You can cut the grounding prong off. There was instructions somewhere on how to do it. HDMI should fix it too.

I usually just pull the grounding prong off with pliers. Never had a problem with any of my gadgets when I do that.

Just use a three prong to two prong adapter. That's what I did and it worked great. You can get them anywhere (Wal-Mart, Radioshack, etc.) for 10 bucks or less.

Yes, tversity works great, even for unsupported codecs using the transcoder option. I had some audio codec issues which prevented some movies with AC3 to not play, but fixed the issue and everthing streams fine.

You were right, TVersity is great. Thanks a lot, I've been using it a lot.

Another law suit against Sony.

Sony has already been slapped with patent suits over the construction of its PlayStation 3 Blu-ray discs and the system's digital security technology. Now the electronics giant is being taken to court over the parallel processing Cell chip that powers its latest console.

In its suit, Parallel Processing Corporation of Newport Beach, California, cites a patent for "synchronized parallel processing with shared memory" that was approved on October 8, 1991. The patent was originally assigned to International Parallel Machines of New Bedford, Massachusetts, while Parallel Processing Corporation describes itself as its "exclusive licensee."

The terse five-page complaint--filed in the Eastern District of Texas (Tyler Division)on July 26--claims that Sony products including the PS3 infringe upon its patent. The suit doesn't specify which of the patent's claims Sony is infringing upon, but it states that the company's actions "are causing irreparable harm and monetary damage" to the company. Parallel Processing Corporation is seeking damages and attorney's fees with interest, as well as the impounding and destruction of all Sony products that infringe on the patent.

When asked about the suit, a Sony representative told GameSpot, "We don't comment on pending litigation."

Quite possibly a stupid question but I cant figure it out. How do you stream movies from your PC to the PS3? I had it working when I had the 360 but now cant get anything to work, wont recognize the laptop Im using, will recognize the desktop but unfortunatly the videos I have are not located on the desktop, is there something I am missing here? Not to mention, when it recognizes the desktop it doesnt seem to be pulling all the information over like it should, there are albums of music sitting there and for some reason they cant be used on the PS3, figure that one out. Thanks to anyone who has a clue how to fix this, hopefully without having to transfer movies using a flash drive or similar device.

Here is a little more interesting article about that law suit.

It says that Sony's infringement of its patent has caused it irreparable harm and monetary damage.


Parallel Processing wants all PlayStation 3 consoles which use the Cell processor (that would be all of them) to be impounded and destroyed. It also wants Sony to say sorry, and to reimburse all the money it claims to have lost.


Of course, it's extremely unlikely that Sony will be forced to do any of those things, but it's certainly something to keep an eye on.
