PS3 games are region free. All PS2 games and dvds are still region encoded so they have to match your system. You have an NTSC system, the disc you got is PAL. I'm guessing it's a DVD since I doubt they'd use blu-ray discs for magazine demo discs. i don't know if blu-ray movies are region-encoded though.

That would certainly make more sense. But still. For the time being, at least, it's like pretty much the worst 'deal' I've ever heard of.
Sounds like a plan and a half.Originally posted by Benicio10I plan on going to a 250GB HDD when they update the PS3 with DVR capabilities.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part II
Yeah in the demo department the PSN is lacking bigtime. They are also missing something like 80+ demos that are in xbl not to mention the recently released demo of Stranglehold.
They have been touting that game because it comes with the blue ray movie on the game disc but they don't have the demo out first on their system. Maybe its just me but I found that to be kind of odd.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part II
I'm thinking of picking up a PS3 to go with my Wii and 360. I have a few questions, though.
-How reliable are these things?
-How does Sony handle broken PS3 systems?
-How long is the initial warranty and how much does it cost for repairs outside of warranty?
- Any HDMI cables that you would recommend? (I really hate dropping $50 -$100 on cables)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Last edited by NY4Life; 08-10-2007, 02:32 PM.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part II
I don't know anything about the warranty situation but the PS3 seems to be a very, very reliable system. I haven't heard of anyone having a problem with their PS3. I've had my PS3 for about six months and haven't add one problem. It is also runs much, much quieter than the 360.Comment

For HDMI cables, you can get some for around $10 on the net. I got mine on Ebay but if you do a search here you can find some websites that have good prices on cables.Comment

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part II
I bought my PS3 the day after they announced the price drop (3 weeks?) & so far I'm loving it. I roam around alot of gaming forums & haven't heard of many PS3s breaking down so I'd consider that reliable, plus I owned the PS2 fatty since the day it came out & not once in all those years did it give me any problems so I take that as a good sign. The sucker is heavy though & blows out hot air like a sauna but its all good, rather have it out than in.I'm thinking of picking up a PS3 to go with my Wii and 360. I have a few questions, though.

HDMI cables I bought at Frys for like 25 bucks but you can get them cheaper on Ebay but I just couldn't wait.
The difference between HDMI & any other cable setup is unreal!!!
Personally I'm glad I waited to get my PS3 & though there are not many games out so far for it, it will eventually have a vast library in the near future! Plus "Home" is going to pwn!!!
