I've owned my PS3 for nearly two years and I still have no idea what the relevance of trophies are.

Is it just to show off in your gamer tag that you're a good video gamer?

Anyway, this is really annoying. I wanted to end the weekend with some time in my NCAA BB '10 dynasty but that ain't happening.

Pretty much. Adds some replay value and extra challenge to games.

On the Trophy Information (?) icon, press Triangle, then click on the Sync With Server option.

                      I was thinking about this....

What if this is something that exists in the actual hard coded hardware? Can you imagine what an uproar this will cause if it needs a massive recall to fix?

Also, since it appears that slims are not affected, did Sony know about this and fix it in the slims? I mean, they both use the same firmware so the problem could very well exist in the different hardware components that exist between the two consoles.

                      Just musings mind you......

Wow, looks like I missed all the fun. Well, not really - my fat 60 GB got hit too. Not as severely as some of the stuff I've read though - I can still see all my save files, tophies, etc, and my theme is still displayed. My clock did get messed up as has been mentioned by many people. And I can't really do anything - tried loading MLB 09 to a blank screen and got an error when trying to start my digital copy of FFVII.

I agree that it's probably a leap year thing. I'm just glad my save data is intact. Interestingly, I turned on my PSP -1000 and it seems perfectly fine - that's even older than the PS3!
