Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
Yeah, but some game companies use it to collect statistics on games (i.e. SCEA uses it for The Show to see how many people play RTTS versus Franchise Mode, etc.).Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
Well at least this has forced me to play The God of War Collection. I have had it for a while, but haven't played it much. I spent a lot of time with it last night, and damn I can see why there is so much hype surrounding GOW III.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
This only gets better......................LOL! My worst fears about this whole thing is that if they can't fix the internal clock with a FW update and then we have to send in the units. I think what is happening is that the PS3 thinks right now its 2/29/2010.........so around 7 PM ET the internal clock should hit 3/1/10, hopefully...............that should correct that issue. I have a feeling that there is more to this than that.
Sony is a bunch of morons, sorry, but they are. Let's see, you can't play your single player games because the whole Trophy sync process is *** backwards. Then if you have DLC content, well its all tied to the PSN network. I was reading some guys trying to play Rock Band 2 and Beatles last night, none of their DLC would work like even the Lego, AC/DC, and RB1 exports due to the export key. This meltdown is worse than the network issues MS had for a month back in December 2008, you were still able to play single player games and get achievements. Oh sony, oh sony, when things are looking up for you dudes, you find ways to screw things up again especially in the biggest month of your console's history.
Now developers’ PS3s are hit by system errors
Debug units unworkable due to endlessly looping error message
Various developers and studios are claiming that their debug PS3 units are failing from suspected internal-clock-related hardware errors.
A multitude of debug consoles – crucial to the development of current PS3 projects – have been thrown into a rebooting cycle, due to an endlessly-looping error message.
The issue comes as a separate issue is affecting retail PS3 consoles, though both problems are thought to be related.
It is said that when certain PS3 retail consoles attempt to connect to the internet, the platform shows error messages and are unable to connect to the PlayStation Network.
Sony has already claimed it has narrowed down possible causes for the retail problem and is working on a solution.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
I think the biggest thing about this whole issue is, that Sony obviously knew about the issue (it being fixed in most Slims).
If I was a betting man, I'd love to tell you guys that at 8PM everything will go back to normal... BUT, there is still a missing day in there which could still throw off the system. Here's my point, PSN knows it's 3/2 tomorrow. The PS3's will still think it's 3/1. See what I'm saying. While I hope for all of you that it's the simple clock fixing itself, I fear a firmware update is going to be required, meaning flashdrives will be needed to update like aukevin said.
On the flip side of that, Sony's current silence is deafening, you would think if they knew that at 8PM, all is good in Sony land again, they would be shouting that on their site, twitter, etc.
Who knows, again, just hope it gets fixed for you guys who are down (which sounds like most of the old time OS PS3 guys). I feel bad for ya.Comment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
Man...this really sucks for all the PS3 users who are having issue's. I feel incredibly fortunate to be having no issues at all. I was able to log in this morning and play disc based games, downloadable games...and all my dlc was there an active.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
The scary thing about this is that I've been reading that the USB ports might be on lockdown too with this issue. I hope that this is not true. We shall see what happens here because Sony had to of known about this with the fats as they fixed it with the slim...........so why not patch it up a week ago or sooner.

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux
Correct me if I'm wrong, but PS3's don't need the PSN to be able to download firmware updates, right? You just go to system update and it uses your internet connection - you're never connected to the PSN during an upgrade. If a firmware fix is needed for this, I don't see why it would be any different.Comment
