If you were to take a positive spin, maybe they are planning much bigger demo's than usual guys and then have them dwindle down a bit...

At first I thought they would have like almost the whole game that would get smaller the longer you played but then I realized that I read it wrong and they actually came up with a pretty stupid idea. It makes no sense whatsoever to make the demo disappear the more you play it.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I agree, it is one of the dumbest ideas ever in the history of gaming. It's Sony for you and their multitude of mistakes this gen.

You make some very solid points.

Demos helped me buy mediocre games that I wouldn't buy before. I had zero interest in Bioschock until I played. Went and bought it day 1. If the demo was a couple minutes long of me running around killing baddies, I'd probably not buy it.

We'll see though, Sony gets better and than we hear news of three different subscription memberships.

I don't know why such a big deal is being made out of it. Heaps of things are trademarked that never see the light of day.

But even so, maybe it will be used for demo's of games that are already released? Like RE5 and Uncharted 2 demo's etc. Let you experience it, then tease you by shrinking it and give more of a push in the direction of the shop to buy it.

a little over exaggeration really. Demos are free, yet people still complain about them. They're often too short, old builds of the game, or never really give a proper vibe for the game.

This yet unused patent just looks to give people a bigger chunk of a game to try out. For example, being able to play more tracks, cars, or even online for a bit would make that racing game easier to judge than a cherry picked track and car.

If anybody has played the Just Cause demo, this demo made perfectly sense. Demos schould more lean towards giving you chuncks of the game, without restricting you to the tutorial and the first 2min of the game.

It's easier to do that with Just Cause though because it's an open world game with a huge area to do stuff in, most games aren't like that.

                          A very unconventional way.

A buddy of mine was leaving for a tour over in the Middle East (as a civilian contractor). He let me hold onto it.

For those looking for a PS3, it sounds like more are on the way this week.

March 15, 2010 - Sony is making sure there will be plenty of PlayStation 3 consoles available in North America during one of its biggest quarters of the year.

John Koller, SCEA's Director of Hardware and Marketing, told IGN the company is readying PS3 supply for important game releases, including tomorrow's God of War III launch.

"We have shipments flowing in now," said Koller. "As you know we are in tight supply, and the reason for that is because demand is outstripping even what we thought it would after the price drop."

"We have a lot of big launches coming up that we need to make sure we're in really strong supply for, and we will be for when God of War III launches," he added. "We'll be in a tight situation for a little while, but for big launches, and particularly for the titles coming in the back half of the year, we'll be fine."

Recent PS3 supply constraints have put a damper on sales since this past holiday. February's NPD revealed Sony sold 360,000 consoles, good for third place. With a full month of Heavy Rain sales, and the releases of Final Fantasy XIII and God of War, March NPD data should prove positive for Sony if there is ample supply.
