Well, technically it's almost the same as XBL Gold.

XBL Silver is free to do everything online except play

XBL Gold is where you get demos early, stuff like that, as well as playing online.

I just wonder if this is Sony's new direction for demos and what not. If you release them with the 25 a year plan a few weeks ahead of time ala XBL Gold, then you almost have the same system.

It's really no different than the OXM or PSM magazines when they had exclusive demos. I guess I just didn't see this coming out of Sony's camp.

It's $49.99 a year. $19.99 for 3 mths. $7.99 monthly.

XBL Gold and this just aren't comparable in my eyes, and I don't mean that to say that Qore is way worse than Gold or whatever, they just don't really compare.

But either way, anyone who says "I don't mind this" is insaneeeee.

This is somewhat interesting and I'll take a look at it. Not sure how the demos will work from now on but it's nice you get special access to betas.

At first I thought it is like Xbox's news feed program but this seems to be a lot more in depth and offers more stuff.

Paying for betas though (as well as demos) just seems insane. I'm not entirely sure how the Gold system works on XBOX in terms of exclusive demos, but I think they become available after a certain period, which doesn't seem to be the case here.

I'm going to be very interested to see what happens now when 360 and PS3 get multi-platform demos just to see if this ever gets involved, since as of now it seems like more of a first party thing.

It almost seems like they took the Underground system that PS use to do, and said wait, we can charge for this! The whole thing just stinks.

...they used to charge for the PS Underground as well. I don't see how this is any different.

They did? I was always in it, got demos and betas all the time, I never paid a dime.

This is the same thing with XBL. Gold members pay for the membership and get demos. Silver members don't get demos till a much later time. I'm sure it will be the same way with PSN. Although I think the demos they will show will be exclusive demos that neither we meant to launch for PSN or XBL.

Plus you get a lot of exclusive content in HD. Sounds like a good deal me.

I know what you're saying about paying for Betas but that is how it has always been. Every time there is a Beta coming, places like IGN say join as a paying subscriber and get access.

Oh, they also sold the CD's with 12 demo's each for about $5. They came out pretty often too and would have some good stuff on them.

I don't know. I just looked at it and it's hosted by Veronica Belmont! I love that girl. She used to do the Prize-fights on CNET.

I think I'll get the first episode and see from there. Don't want to commit $30 to something that might suck or be worthless.

I personnely will not purchase anything from the PSN until they add to the online functions. Yeah, xbox live does cost $60 for the year but it's damn worth it. I love talking smack to my friends while im at work through xbox.com and then playing when we get home.
