Yeah and make sure you don't push the little P button on your paddle cause that will turn it on.

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion Part Deux

Sony has issued advice to PS3 users that have seemingly 'lost' Trophies due to yesterday's calendar-related system bug.

A statement from the platform holder, sent to CVG this morning, reads:

'It is possible that some users who experienced the connection problems yesterday and tried unsuccessfully to access a game (online or offline) may find that trophy data for that title is no longer displayed.

'To resolve this issue, the user will need to re-access the game to reinstall the trophies, then exit the game and sync their trophy collection to the server in order to regain previous achievements.'

The bug recognised 2010 as a leap year, and reset the clock of older PS3s yesterday (March 1st).

The fault meant the PS3 couldn't join PSN and left users unable to play certain games that used trophies, or performed trophy-sync checks online.

We reported this morning that Sony is reporting the 8001050F error has corrected itself.

However, CVG Forum users say not everything is back to normal. CVG member Only_777 wrote this morning:

'Ok so the bug is over and we can now all go back online. There are some issues though:

        1) If you tried to run any HDD games (Wipeoute HD, PS1 games, etc) these will probably need to be deleted and downloaded again. I tried running Street Fighter Alpha yesterday, and got the bug. I tried running it today and it wouldn't load but everything I didn't try yesterday works fine.

        2) Those trophies you lost don't come back. But you still have them on the PSN, but a re-sync doesn't get them back. However [compare] trophies with a friend and you'll see them even though they don't appear on your system.'
Kind of ouch and shoddy to me.

I tried to play Peggle during the outage and everything is fine with it now. No trophies or progress lost at all.

I hate that all the news articles are saying "Sony fixed the bug". They didn't do crap, they let us have 24 hours+ of down time and it fixed itself....

It'll be a problem in the future sometime unless they fix it, which I doubt. I'm sure they knew about this and decided it was easier to screw us over rather than fix it.

I think you are correct on that theory.............just goes to show how crappy this generation has been from both MS and Sony. All they want is $$$$$$$$$.

How has this gen been crappy?

And how does Sony only want money when they sold their console at a loss for such a long time?

And as annoying as it was, 24 hours of downtime does not change the fact that PS3 consoles have been pretty damn reliable machines since launch.

Of course Sony only wants money. They didn't put the ps3 out for the betterment of mankind. Sure, they lost lots of money on the hardware, but they helped push bluray out in the public, as well as kept the valuable playstation brand going. Even something like free online play for PSN was done to have a marketing bullet point against the juggernaut that is Xbox Live.

Please don't get me started and there are a lot of people on here that would agree with me. This generation of gaming has been a mess from the beginning with all 3 companies making all kinds of mistakes, early sports games being horrible, early 360 games looking like XBOX ports, RROD/YLOD, pricing (MS and their overpricing of accessories/Sony pricing of their consoles, multiple upon multiple sku's, etc. you name it.

Ok I won't get you started because you're obviously set in your opinion, but being a gamer for 20+ years, I have experienced some of the great games from this gen so I'm more than happy.

Sports games have certainly been a disappointment this generation, from the exclusive licenses to the painfully slow transition from last gen to current gen. We had it good on PS2/Xbox, that will be known as the golden age of sports gaming unless exclusive licenses bite the dust in the future.

I'm not into anything besides sports games but from everything I have read there have been some amazing non-sports games on PS3/360.

Can't disagree with anything you said here. With the exception of a few titles, sports games have taken a dive. While Non-Sports Games are where the fun is this generation.

I was a 99% sports gamer before I bought my PS3. Next-gen sports gaming has been pathetic to be honest. With the exception of The Show and the NBA 2k series next-gen sports gaming has taken a huge step backwards. Things that were in Madden for years on the PS2 are just now being introduced as new features in Madden/NCAA.

Now I play non-sports most of the time because they feel like, "next-gen" and have been awesome. See Fallout 3, Heavy Rain, Uncharted, etc.

I hope sports games get back to where they were last-gen. The transition has been horrible and exclusive licenses have hurt the gaming world a ton. With no competition us gamers aren't getting quality products.

                                I can disagree a bit too....LOL

I think sports games could be a bit better, but for the most part I'm pretty satisfied with them. I think the problem is are expectations are way to high in the clouds.
