Divx playable isn't all that hot. It's great not needing an encoding but the quality doesn't translate so well to an HDTV.

I never had quality issues in the past with Transcode and my Windows Media Center system. It doesn't seem as smooth and that's disappointing.

I think Friends of Friends is potential trouble. It's possible you play a guy that is immature and rude and he decides to look into your friends and flood them with spam about you.

Not sure of the benefit.

can't you set it to being viewed by just those on your friend's list??

EDIT: dq, you can set it to just "Friends Only" that can view your list... that's what I have it at

Is there a game or CD in you disc tray. The exact same thing happened to me, so I took my cd out and then rebooted. It worked after that. Also you may want to boot up with the hard drive off and see what it does. Hope that helps.

I just ended up turning it off and turning it back on. No problems and was able to download the update!

I definitely like the speed of the dashboard now. Also, I don't know if it's just me but everything seems to be loading faster now. Games especially.

Good to hear, and you are correct about loading times....I still just wish they made Halo online and put achievement points on the games.

They said the originals will act exactly how the disc versions work. So you can't access your friends list in Halo for example.

I was able to play music and view photos from my Windows XP PC to the 360. (Although I did have some problems getting this to work consistently)

Now after the update, it looks like you need a Media Center PC to do this. That's a downgrade for me until I get a new PC.

This has me concerned. I constantly stream music from my comp to the 360 by way of the original windows media connect. I also have windows xp.
So....with this update (haven't done it yet) I won't be able to stream music anymore?....unless I get a Media Center pc??

If true, this will annoy me to no end, too. I always steam music to my 360 with Windows XP and media connect. I stream wmv videos, too. I can't imagine this update would stop that. Can anyone cofirm?

I'm hoping since mike95 mentioned he was having problems being able to do this before, it's just something going on with his specific set-up. Like I said, I can't imagine why they would suddenly require Media Center PCs when they didn't before. Most people don't have Media Center, so there would be a lot more outrage if true, I'm sure.

My comp is to old.
I did try one of the other sharing methods....I think it was orb,and I wasn't even able to stream wmv's due to my comp not having enough (I think) processor speed.

With the setup I'm currently using,I don't have this problem...that's why if this turns out to be true...I don't have a problem with not updating and just using my usb stick.

If you go to the videos section, you can press the "X" button to go back to the computer streaming. It was organized, not removed.

That's kinda what I was hoping as well.....although I'm going to wait till I can get some confirmation either way.
I have no problem not updating....I just can't believe they would do this.
