    Id leave it checked. Its not gunna force 7.1 if you dont have it. Itll mix with your receiver and what you have. I have 6.1 (working on 7.1 soon enough) and it sounds awesome on mine (both Blu-Ray and PS3 stuff)

        So did you try the receipt idea? No way they keep every single system's serial # on every single receipt.

        Lots of stores to try... Walmat, Best Buy, Gamestop... others that may be in your area...

            It says it decodes TrueHD and DTS HD. Like, it allows it or it does a passthrough of some sort.

            Would 196 kHz (or whatever it is) be considered "HD"? I'm already loving the lossless audio I'm getting with HDMI compared to optical, but I can always go for a little more when it comes to quality.

                It says it decodes TrueHD and DTS HD. Like, it allows it or it does a passthrough of some sort.

                Would 196 kHz (or whatever it is) be considered "HD"? I'm already loving the lossless audio I'm getting with HDMI compared to optical, but I can always go for a little more when it comes to quality.
                Interesting, it's specs don't that it can handle it, but if it's working for people, that's awesome.

                All of my settings are on auto.

                    I mean, if you read lower in that post, it says:

                    I'm just tempted to try these higher settings... but I don't want to damage my speakers at the same time.

                        I wouldn't try it.

                        Still odd, as the front of the receiver shows none of those logos and every receiver I've ever seen that support those outputs, display it. Look at any Sony or Onkyo amp to see what I mean.

                                Sounds like 96 kHz is the highest. Good thing I didn't go for it earlier (but too bad it doesn't go any higher).

                                        Lots of stores to try... Walmat, Best Buy, Gamestop... others that may be in your area...

                                        I'm trying to help you man...
                                        Thats why I asked what the manufactured date in on the system, because if he did get a recite from one of the stores and the date on the machine is from 2006 and the recite is from 08, then Sony will know something is up.
