Frank, did you use your old HDD or running with the 120GB? Is this very quiet too?

I'm using the 120gb it came with. Very Quite. I really love this machine, it really is night and day from the fatty.

Has it already been synced to the ps3? or did you have to turn off the system because of a hard crash?

A friend of mine just sent me a link to an annoucement that "Play TV HD" is being released in Australia in October to be used with the ps3.

Have you guys had any experience with it?

Why doesn't PlayTV come to the US any time soon? That would bring the debate to a close that PS3 is just a superior console in general, and I would brag about this to no end in a dorm where we are limited to our channels in general. I'm even bragging about the HD channels I get over-the-air, but imagine this thing! Imagine getting Sportscenter in HD, recording live shows, etc.

My God, this needs to come to the US!

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like it only picks up OTA signals. But still!

"Possible" new member here for a PS3.
My 360 just got banned, and instead of buying my 3rd 360, might just go with a PS3. Most of the games I play online are sports titles. For those who have both systems, without flaming, can you explain why you own both and when you opt to play one over the other?

Bodean, I would say I mostly play on the PS3 at the moment. It's because I prefer their exclusives. The online experiance can vary more from game to game but the psn titles generally are very good. And the streaming options on the ps3 seem a bit better.

Thanks. Can you compare the sporting games on both systems, and how the online play differs on both? Is the PSN network big enough to find gamers easily to play sport titles?

I would say at this point its good. Games are not perfect like on Live but their generally playable.

When games first release, then tend to have some connection problems compared with the 360. I chalk this up not having a unified network. Some games work great and others don't until they fix it. I would read up on these forums about certain games to get a good idea.

True but there are the opposite examples.

Battlefield 1943 has more dedicated servers for PS3 than 360. Plus, first party games like Resistance, Killzone, Uncharted all are great online.

But I think overall things work better on 360 yeah. Even the set-up of friends, invites and cross game chat are worth mentioning.

It's not bad on PS3, just not as good, or polished.

Okay, can someone please explain Folding@home for me? I do understand what it means that we are helping speed up the process of some protein folding simulation, but what is that? Maybe I'm not biologically savvy, but what on earth is folding, and how is it that we contribute to these simulations exactly?

Like for instance, I began a simulation last night that won't end until tomorrow night. Will it be okay for me to play a game in between, or turn off my system if I have to? Can people join in on this folding at all? I suppose I just don't get it really.

I think I have more questions about it, but I first need to get the gist of what's going on with this thing.

And for those who don't know, Life with PlayStation is now on version 1.20.
