No date yet when DS3 is coming stateside yet though. Hopefully its announced during GDC.
It's kinda BS that Japan's getting new editions of the DS3 and we haven't even seen the original...

Sure is, especially since they had it since November I believe but thats how it usually is with Sony.

No, it also adds the function when you press the PS button to be able to travel back in time.

A firmware update is suppose to create a function to travel to the future.

But yeah, just the color and it has rumble support like all the Japanese controllers. But other than that its the same.

Does the PS3 have DVD upscaling? If so, is just an HDMI cable required, or is there more to it?

                Thanks to anyone that knows.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...

                    Thanks.

I think I've suddenly changed minds to want to get the PS3 this summer. I'm also looking to play my old PS2 games, etc. That said, would there be any reason to keep my PS2? Do the Guitar Hero controllers work, can I still play my old PS2 games online, can I transfer my memory card files?

I hear that only the 60GB and 80GB systems are BC. So aside from the 20 GB difference, is there anything else that the 80GB has that I should take note of?

Again, thanks for being a big help. I'm just trying to make sure that I make the right decision.

Re: Official PS3 Discussion Part III...

To play PS2 games, you need either the 60 or 80 GB system, preferably the 60GB.

                      The GH guitars don't work.

Yes, you can transfer memory card saves, but you have to buy an adapter (which you can then return )

The 80 gb ps3 is software based back compatible, not hardware like the 60 gb. It still works on about 80 percent of ps2 games.

Hmm, sounds like a bummer for them PS2 guitars. Sounds like I'll need to sell them then, yes?

Any good deals out there with Blu Ray movies that aren't Spider-Man 3? I already have the movie on DVD, so I want to look elsewhere this summer I suppose.

I use eBay for about 90% of my Blu-Rays. Picked up Saw 4 Unrated for $11.50 last week, along with Game Plan for $12. Both were brand new as well. I think the most I've paid for a Blu-Ray on eBay is $16.50.

I'm looking to get a wireless G router for connecting my PS3 online. My modem is the basement with my PC so it will be hooked up there, however my PS3 is on the main floor hooked up to my HDTV. Does anybody have the same setup as me and getting good reception from the router for the PS3?

I ask this because routers usually have the "umbrella effect" where they should be at the highest area in the house as it's reception umbrellas over the area so to speak. It works it's way down rather than up as far as I understand.

Same here. I've had mine since Dec of '06, and never had an issue with it.

No. A buddy of mine is a computer tech, and huge gamer to boot. We tried to get his controller working on my PS3, and then tried getting his Rock Band gear to work on my PS3, and nothing ever came of it. He said it was something to do with the PS button, and the XBox button doing different things for their respective systems.
