2 of My ps3 controllers are messing up. I press the square it does something totally opposite.

I really don't want to pay 59.99 for a new controller. Any fixes?

      1. Open it up and clean, hopefully it's just debris in there.

      2. Replace the film circuit board, google SA1Q188A, should cost you about $4, and/or the controller rubber (to test which one, when you open and clean rotate the rubber pad for the buttons).

What kind of power cord/adapter do you need for this kind of PS3? I got it for free, but w/ no power cord, controller, A/V or HDMI cables. No it's not stolen...

          IEC60320C13, it's a standardized cord

Just google "C13 cord" or "PC power cord" and buy the cheapest you find. You may even have one laying around the house unused, it's a standard PC power cord.

Ok, next issue guys, I bought an hdmi cable got it powered up, I turn it on then the light goes green, blinks yellow, and then a constant red blinking light. So is this the equivalent to the xbox RROD?

I think you have too set up the system with a normal av cable then switch it too hdmi in the settings. not sure though.

I believe that is the death lights....

Could be wrong though and maybe it is the wrong cord. Think you hold down the power button until 2 beeps then the system will reset and auto detect the HDMI.

I bought the PS3 HDMI cable along w/ a PS3 USB charger cable for the controller. I think the system is fried or something...

So not just two minutes ago, my PS3 fan suddenly got incredibly loud.

                          Is that the cue?

Yes, yes it is. It gets loud. But will be loud for a while.

Oh, I meant is this a symptom of YLOD? Should I be ready for my system to brick? I recall others previously saying that their PS3's suffered from erratic behavior shortly before theirs dying. I forget if it was a loud fan or what.

It could be one of two things. Dust collection so it gets hotter inside, thus the fan spinning up more.

Or, hotter due to the separation and YLOD. Mine was loud for almost a year before the YLOD.
