lol As much as I love Spiderman... I really won't. Unless it does something like give me a new costume or something I don't really care.

I see how achievements extend the life of a game sometimes... like in NBA 2k where you have to come back down from 10 in the 4th quarter or so... but I don't understand the infatuation with the numerical part of a gamerscore... kind of like, "Yeah, I have 20,000 more points than you, I'm hardcore" or "I'm in the top 50 of Gamerscores."

You don't get anything. I don't see the appeal. I don't know. I'm just getting older I guess. I can't recall ever caring about the high score in anything outside of an arcade... and that was only a few games... like NBA Jam.

JK, I also fall into the camp that could care less about achievements. They are neat and do add a little something else to a game but I never understood people who list Achievements as a reason for getting\not getting a game. In fact I have not gotten a new achievement since I sold the 360 a few weeks back and I am still having just as much fun gaming

I was one of those people but soon I stopped caring about leader board ranking and all that. There is still many cheaters on that board as 8/9 out of the top 10 are cheaters. Not to mention many of the top people and people that care about gamerscore boost online games. Boosting is cheating as well, so if they get gamesavers they should go after boosting and glitching as well but they won't.

Boosting in online games is quite a bit different than what some other folks were doing. At least these people are physically playing the games and not violating the terms of service. Either developers need to stop putting achievements in their games that encourage boosting, or not allow you to unlock some while playing with friends, or set some limits (similar to what Epic will doing with Gears 2).

It is different but is it legit? Was the achievement really earned the way it was suppose to be? The difference between actually winning 20 online games compared to dropping 20 games in an hour so is a huge difference. So if "legit" gamers really care about gamerscore, that should be considered non-legit as well.
The same can be said about loading a save, doing the last level and getting the achievement. You're actually putting the game in and doing the work just cutting the time drastically. Same with boosting.

Anytime you put a score or leader board, there will be cheating. Some games allow you to use codes and get achievements like Ghost Recon.

All I'm saying it isn't a big deal. There is no prize for #1 and if you really take it personally when others cheat in achievements than that person just has to take a break from gaming.

Sony hopefully learned from Microsoft's mistakes with the achievement system. Trophies seem more about your accomplishments and not showing a simple score. Hopefully Sony comes through with their trophy, then again it could be a water down achievement system that doesn't work. We'll see.

It's just a nice extra layer for people to enjoy if they wish. I'd rather it be there than have nothing. Why not? I was going to have fun with GTA 4, but playing to 100% and almost 90 hours, it's nice that they have something to show I did it.

It's not like a huge majority of achievements are like the Avatar 1k. Quite a few actually take days and a lot of effort to achieve. I'd rather have all the achievements in a game like crackdown, oblivion, or forza 2 than avatar or any madden game.

They take it off sometime within the first 10 days or less.

So your CC bill will be $400. Before the first statement comes in, it will be down to $300.
