I haven't had time to even turn my PS3 on today. I spent the day packing boxes, cleaning the stove, the bathroom, taking out trash, etc. Moving is fun!!!!

The weirdest thing happen with my PS3 a couple of hours ago. I turned it on to put the movie Goodfellas on Blu in and it brought up the HDMI screen where it had detected the HDMI cable. It hasn't done that since I first hooked it up.

Anyways, I went through the steps and the resolution crap, popped the movie in and watched it and had no problems. I have no clue why it did that.

Its per-layer capacity is 25 gigabytes, which is the same as that of a Blu-ray Disc (BD). This multilayer technology will also be applicable to multilayer recordable discs. This development has bolstered Pioneer's confidence in the feasibility of a large-capacity optical disc, which is expected to become necessary in the near future.

I found out the problem with my ps3 is most likely the hard drive, so I just ordered an 80gb one on newegg. Hopefully it will work.

The only problem is that all of my saves will be gone.

Any idea how big that file ends up being? I've got a 1 or 2 GB flash drive...I have a huge USB HD, but I can't remember how I formatted it and I know the PS3's picky. Just trying to plan for whenever I put a bigger HD in my PS3...

I can't backup my files because when I turn the ps3 on it can't even load the xmb. It's just a blank screen and then shuts off.

Moses, I think it will ask you the first time you turn the ps3 on with it installed.

Is it a new HDD?

Depends if it is formatted as a FAT or NTFS. If it is a NTFS the PS3 will ask you to put a flashdrive in with the latest firmware update and than it will reformat.

Depends. If you delete all previous game saves, game data, pictures, music and videos it will end up being 150-200mb. After you reformat and load the backup it will be like you never reformatted since it loads both your profile and all previous information. If you backup gamesaves it will be more but 1GB is more than enough. Just make sure you delete the game data prior to it.

Depends on how many files you have. If you do a clean sweep and delete all game saves it will end up being 100-200MB. This saves both your profiles and when you load it, it will be like you never reformatted or installed a new HDD.

However, make sure you delete all game data prior to doing this; not game saves but game data or else the PS3 will try to back that up as well.
