        I just called Moses, no such luck. They are franchises so you have to go through the store that you bought it at. What store did he buy it at exactly?

                Doesnt the receipt have the address and/or phone number of the store he went to? There are two in Mesa, one is 480-545-PLAY and the other one is 480-833-0577.

                            The person I bought it from? I spoke to her via ebay and I'm waiting for a response.

                            I called the store a while ago, but it was before I had a receipt and it was before I contacted Sony Japan, so now I have more to argue with.

                                PM sent Moses. To add to that PM, the Play n Trade website actually says they do console repairs so maybe that is a last ditch option to avoid buying a new one if Sony wont help and they refuse to help.

                                The corporate number is

                                Call them and give them tons of grief, I mean lay it on thick. Ask them why they feel they can sell imported systems without informing the potential buyer that if anything goes wrong they wont be able to get Sony to honor the warranty since its an import. It may seem obvious to a lot of guys here, but lets face it, if a Mom goes in there to buy it for her kid for Christmas, she isnt going to have a clue and will probably get suckered into buying one because the color is different and she will think the kid will like it more because of that. Dont let them off the hook with this, if all else fails threaten to muddy their name any and everyway you can, warn people, file a complaint with the BBB about this situation, get a fax number for their corporate office, type up a complaint letter and fax a copy of it to them daily, and if you can get a mailing address for someone high up in corporate then send that same letter in the mail consistently. If you really want to avoid paying for another console then you need to be such a giant thorn in their side that they would rather help you so you go away then keep dealing with you in the current state.

                                                I bought it used from the person, but when she bought it it was brand new. I have the receipt from the exact store she got it from.
