                        When my 40GB has been on for a while it sounds like a damn airplane. I was watching Star Wars DVD last night and I actually had to turn the volume up to hear what people were saying.

                                    I know what you're talking about because when I was at my friends and it turned on, it was loud as hell. He exchanged it for a another one and he said the fans never go full blast or are even audible unless you mute the TV.

                                                        Strange that some people can hear the fans with their 40gb. I've had mine for a few months and sometimes I have to check if this thing is actually running. It's that quiet and it never gets warm.
