Lots of good features. And finally, auto-shutdown after downloads! I hated not being able to leave the PS3 on so that it can finish downloading something knowing that if I'm gone for a long period of time, I'd be wasting electricity and money.
Looks like this should come this week since Socom is coming this week and they need to release the support when the game hits. Solid update looks like.
This latest firmware installment enables High-Quality (HQ) mode, which delivers clear and wide-band online voice chat.
Is this feature exclusive to those using the official PS3 headset, or does it increase the bandwidth for all voice chat users?
Friend status – Offline friends on your Friends list will have information below their avatars that will indicate how long it has been since they were last online
This is cool I suppose, but I would like to see something similar to how on the 360 you can see specifically what online users are doing in-game (like on sports games what the score is in the game they are playing).
Power Save Settings – You can now set your PS3 and wireless controllers to turn off automatically after set periods of inactivity. Go to Settings then Power Save Settings to turn on these features.
Background Downloading - You now have the option to set the PS3 to turn off automatically after a background download or installation of content has completed. This option is available when you turn off the system from the button under [Users] while content is being downloaded or installed.
Niiice, these will both come in handy quite a bit for me.
In-game Screenshots - this tool will allow everyone to capture, share and in other words, immortalize their favorite gameplay moments. This will be supported on a game by game basis. Please check back to find out which games will support this feature.
Sweet, but when will we actually start seeing games that utilize this feature (and also the capturing videos to YouTube feature)?
If it bothers you, use your BB warranty to exchange it for a newer one which have the cooler chips and no more noise.
I know what you're talking about because when I was at my friends and it turned on, it was loud as hell. He exchanged it for a another one and he said the fans never go full blast or are even audible unless you mute the TV.
I'm going to do this tomorrow. Do the new 80gb ones out now have the cooler chip and everything?

I'm wondering this too...I've got a few bluetooth headsets, so don't really need anymore, but just wondering about this new HQ thing that the update is going to bring. Anyone have any insight?
