Re: Ea console?
EA is just consolidating their 3rd party power. Why burden themselves with what MS and Sony go through with hardware manufacturing? EA makes money by putting out games on every platform possible.
The only way they do this is if they partner up with someone to do the hardware to put out a powerful console, but sell it for cheap as hell. It would get people to buy it for their games, which would be exclusive. It would take balls to do, and only Nintendo has really been able to strong arm the industry like this before.Comment

Re: Ea console?
I wouldn't laugh this off....look at what EA is doing with all these smaller companies that they have swallowed up. All it takes for them now is to get Take Two and their line-up of titles and I bet they do come up with their own console. Look at how many IP's they would have that no other console like the PS3 or 360 would have. Think how many consoles Madden would sell, or GTAV to name just two titles. I wouldn't put this past EA in anyway......they want global domination and what they are doing here is that they will corner North America and Europe (if they can get their grubby hands on Ubisoft).
At this point, all is left Japan which they can't touch, unless they start buying up companies over there.Comment

I don't see how they could/would limit Madden to just their console. They wouldn't stand a chance at renewing the exclusive license when the current deal expires as the NFL would frown upon such a limitation being put on the number of people able exposed to their namesake and it's players.I wouldn't laugh this off....look at what EA is doing with all these smaller companies that they have swallowed up. I don't see that happening at all unless they used the three remaining years of exclusivity to drive the sales of their console, but that's an awfully big risk and burning a bridge with the NFL they'll likely never be able to cross again.Comment

With EA at this point, this would be the next step for them to possibly make more money. They will have all their first party titles to thrive off of and there will be 3rd party support, so I can see them possibly doing that. I'm not saying that they will jump at a console in '08 or '09, but I can see it around '10. I could be wrong here, but EA is starting to scare me with the tactics they are using to try and get Take Two and they still want UbiSoft.I don't see how they could/would limit Madden to just their console. Who knows, the NFL may not care if they did that as long as they are getting their pay.Comment

Re: Ea console?
We know that, but do you think that the NFL even with a poor Madden '07 and granted Madden '08 was an improvement cares about the sales numbers of the game? They got their money for the exclusive license and as long as EA isn't defacing the NFL, they won't argue. They made EA change NFL Street to NFL Tour and tone down the content, but if NFL isn't get a kickback from sales, than if EA takes Madden console exclusive what does it matter?Comment

Because they would be limiting the availability of Madden to the (relatively) small number of people that own an EA console. As of now Madden 08 was available on over 10 different platforms. We know that, but do you think that the NFL even with a poor Madden '07 and granted Madden '08 was an improvement cares about the sales numbers of the game? Contrary to popular belief, the hardcore gamers that frequent sites like this are really the only people displeased with any of the past Madden releases, and we are the very small minority.
I'd almost guarantee the NFL would be none to happy about going from 10+ platforms to one platform.Comment

I agree with you on that, the internet is just a minority when it come to complaining about a game like Madden......while those that don't visit internet sites like OS are happy with Madden year in, year out.Comment
