Yeah, they extended it through the year 2012. So if they developed a console and released it in 2010 then they'd have two years of the exclusive license to use Madden to push sales of their console.

If this happens wont it be a monopoly? Because you will not have a choice any more . Like if you want to buy sports games you have to have there console.

No, any company could make a football, basketball, baseball, whatever game. Just not an officially licensed NFL game. It's like how Reebok (or whoever) is the ONLY company that can make official NFL jerseys. That's not a monopoly. I want to stab people in the eyes when all I hear is "monopoly" whining, ugh.

Because they would be limiting the availability of Madden to the (relatively) small number of people that own an EA console. As of now Madden 08 was available on over 10 different platforms.

Contrary to popular belief, the hardcore gamers that frequent sites like this are really the only people displeased with any of the past Madden releases, and we are the very small minority.

I'd almost guarantee the NFL would be none to happy about going from 10+ platforms to one platform.

100% sure from a business perspective. EA is known for risks but this is one risk that is way too high and has too many negatives.

Well I feel similar about people crying monopoly but I don't know about stabbing people in the eyes... maybe kicking them in the teeth?
