Re: PS3 Problem
Re: PS3 Problem
Mine just stopped reading discs yesterday (I have a 40G w/ Spiderman). Hopefully the process isn't too long, but it is frustrating since one of the major reasons for getting the ps3 was to avoid issues ala the 360. The customer support at Sony said that this problem is only happening on the 40G, so those w/ other models should be okay. I'll post details on the process later...Comment

Re: PS3 Problem
My buddy had his 60GB version die yesterday, it stopped reading games. He's never even watched a BD on it, as he doesn't even own a HDTV.
Besides mine and Altimus, that's only the 3rd 60GB version I've heard die.Comment

Re: PS3 Problem
Listen to my point, and this is in no way bashing at all, it's just a theory. People keep talking about the PS3 reliability's over the 360 all the time, but if I recall the 360 didn't have many problems in it's first year out, I had my first 360 last the first year and then I sold it still working 100%. I also believe all the RROD starting happening after people ownED it for longer then a year, I know it shouldn't happen at all, and I don't wanna see any system dying at all, but I don't think we can really distinguish the PS3 reliability until it has been out longer, that just my thought.Last edited by RoyalBoyle78; 06-10-2008, 01:08 PM.N.Y Mets

Re: PS3 Problem
Yup, same problem happened to me. Luckily, mine was still w/in 30 days, so I just exchanged it. I originally had the 40GB Spiderman version, and exchanged for 40GB w/o Spiderman. So far, no problems with the new one.The problem isn't as big. Only a couple people here on the forums have had this problem and I haven't seen it much on other forums.
It does seem mostly with the earlier version of the 40GB ones.
The ones without the Spider-man bundle are the 60mn chip ones with a different BR than the 40GB with the Spider-man bundle.Comment

Re: PS3 Problem
That is why we have a part 2 360 problems thread which is 70 pages long right? Seriously, the 360 had problems from day one and still does although it is way better. No where near the PS3 reliability, and thinking so would be foolish at this point.Listen to my point, and this is in no way bashing at all, it's just a theory. From day one, I'm sorry I don't remember it being that big of a deal in it's first year, the 360 has been out for 3 years now. I don't remember much going on in it's first year. Look it up. Where's part one, How can I see when the first problem that OS users reported on the part one side, is it still possible to view?N.Y Mets

It's just not even worth it...FF, you flip flop worse than John Kerry. I remember the past when you were all "ZOMG I want to go down on my PS3, 360's suck and die all the time"...
Seriously, the PS3's have minor problems, but absolutely nowhere near the level of Microsoft and the 360. MS had to publicly admit that their system was flawed and extend warranties. The UPS guys know the coffin by sight. Whine all you want, but you're never going to win the "PS3 is just as bad as 360" battle because it flat out isn't. Please try not to let your "Insert console he just bought here"-colored glasses taint your posts too much.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Part 1 seems to not work but seriously, Google the issue and you'll find plenty of links and articles date back to 11/05-12/05 about ROD.From day one, I'm sorry I don't remember it being that big of a deal in it's first year, the 360 has been out for 3 years now. Honestly, I'm not saying anything bad, and me flip flopping has nothing to do with what I was saying, I never said I don't like the PS3, I loved it, It's just that I like games better on the 360. So please don't go there. It's just not even worth it...FF, you flip flop worse than John Kerry. Re: PS3 Problem
Yes the 360 problems pretty much started from Day 1. I bought mine 6 months after launch and at that time there were already a lot of reports of RROD. It hadn't quite reached the level it reached later that eventually forced MS to give the 3 year RROD warranty but it was already a hot topic. It was pretty widely speculated though not yet confirmed that the 360's failure rate was abnormally high. I will grant you though that it got much worse after the first year. From day one, I'm sorry I don't remember it being that big of a deal in it's first year, the 360 has been out for 3 years now. Re: PS3 Problem
Hey, how hot does the PS3 usually get? Is it like the 360 where you feel compelled to buy some sort of cooling system? After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!Comment

Re: PS3 Problem
It doesn't get hot but it does release a lot of hot air... which is good. The PS3 cooling system is top notch and no cooling accessory is necessary and I would advise against one.Comment

Re: PS3 Problem
The cooling gadget Sony has is the most unnecessary piece of equipment on the market. The PS3 alone has it's own cooling system, and from what I've been told, buying the cooling accessory makes the ps3 itself less cold.Comment
