I hear where your coming from, yeah the system was priced to high from jump street. but the $399 price tag now is just fine IMO, I mean the PS3 seems to get overlooked for what the system really is.

The system being a entire household entertainment power house is really not an understatement, thats is truly what it is. IN the end, the outside the box, customers really need see what the PS3 is all about, at first I didn't care, I just wanted to game, and that was all, until I decided to use the system for everything else it does, I can truly appreciate the system so much more.

Also, reliability is also a plus.

It sux Sony does get more PS3 sales, in the end you are truly getting your money's worth no matter what. So $399 is not much at all for the asking price.

Yeah but it's being sold as a Video Game Console and that's what it is first, in the minds of prospective customers. In that respect, it is expensive, hell the 360 for me is still to expensive for a video game console.
Now as a entertainment system, your right, in a PS3 you are getting great value for it, but the average consumer doesn't see that way, to a majority it is just another video game console.

Don't get too hyped cause once you try to play some video clip you got off the net and get a "File type not supported" or whatever it says, your multimedia dreams will start to dissipate.
But I do love the way they do the slideshow for you photos. That is cool

Being able to stream music off any laptop or PC on your home network through the PS3 into your surround sound setup is nice. Same with video clips.

Listening to music on the computer is not close to a 7.1 surround sound setup.

Plus, the PS3 decodes all the latest hidef audio codecs. This allows you to get a cheaper audio receiver which will save you almost $200. (Sony STRDG 710 vs. Onkyo 606)

I got the PS3 just as a blu ray player and multimedia hub. Oh yeah, it plays games too. lol

Make a gaming-console-only version and sell it for $200. I honestly don't need anything else than a gaming console.

thats the way I felt always, but until you really appreciate what else the system has to offer, you start to use those other features more.

Well, never say never but I really don't care about the other stuff. I don't even play online, I just need off-line gaming. That's it. Give me a PS2 with the engine of the PS3, That's all I need

Well most of the games are on Blu-Ray disc, so I don't know what you would take out to make it a so-called "gaming-console-only version" and how that would make it $200 cheaper.

Target will be selling a new packaged PS3 deal with Resistance and Motostorm for $399.99 on March 29th!

That means the PS3 80GB by itself is going to be $299.99 starting that day.

I was up on Dell's site and they are offering the PS3 80gb with a 20% off coupon = $80 off bringing the final price to $339 after tax and free shipping.

Looks like I will be getting MLB 09 The Show after all this coming Sunday.

I will be heading out to get a PS3 today at FULL PRICE.. Da#n all of you who told me this is so much more then a videogame machine and actually made sense that the 399 tag is fine. With that said I would like a little more advice. I want to go in a store and get my ps3. Who has the best extended warranty deal?? What store should I go where it will be hassle free if my Ps3 would crash??

I do really appreciate everyones advice. What a great site this is.

Just buy it at Best Buy where you have 30 days price match guarantee if it drops.
