    always something............im pissed off
Sounds like the bluetooth ribbon cable isn't all the way in (affects the controllers and wireless capability). Had mine repaired locally last month after ylod and brought it home with the same exact issue. Went back to the store (30 min drive), took the guy a couple seconds to fix it after removing the cover (unclip ribbon, push it in all the way into connection, clip it back). Guess I could have done the same thing at home after researching online.

Bad news is, ylod happened again, been less than a month. Have a 6 month warranty though. Seems like selling it is the best option if reflowing is just a temporary fix. Have the launch 60gb and don't ever use the BC. Heard the slims use less power and there's less heat due to a better design.

my google search shows your exactly right.

i opened it up and the ribbon is in place but i dont know how to unhook it without feeling im gonna break it. plus the other end of it is under the bluetooth/wifi board so i would have to unscrew that too. i moved that little wire around too but the controllers still wont sync up.

i just feel like im gonna mess it up more. everything goes wrong for me.

ebay might be your best chance to get good money for it. or craigslist.

That is why I ditched mine several months ago when I was worried about the fans getting louder.

I re-did the fix and used silver thermal paste this time as the paste I used before was pretty much gone.?.?.?

Anyways it worked so far and I right away copied my saves to jump drive. At least that problem is solved...

That's the thing with the ps3. Once it goes bad it's only a matter of time before it goes again.

I did the fix from the video on youtube for the ylod and so far it works. How long will it last anyone know? I have a slim that is only 6 months old. But i had the 40gig that went out 6 months ago. So i said what the hell its already broke so i tried it. It was easier then i thought. So i got 2 working ones for now

Yea, I bought it used and it YLOD'd on me about 2-3 weeks after getting it. Went and got it repaired and 2 weeks later, YLOD. Gamestop said they don't take them if their YLOD defected. I still had a warranty w/ it from the place where I got it, and dropped it off today. I think I'm going to just trade it into Gamestop when it gets repaired and just put that towards a new slim PS3.

PS3 HDDs are encrypted and tied to the system, so another system can't read it.
